lkprescott said:Quick update: I had a very rough few days, to say the least. Without being too graphic. I ended up in the ER last Thursday night after throwing up twice that day. I was afraid of being dehydrated anyway and my doc didn't have an opening until today (Monday). So at the ER they pumped me full of fluid and gave me something for my nausea so I could guzzle down dye for a Cat scan *meow*. They released me with a bunch of meds which I took the next day and proceeded to vomit to the point where I couldn't even keep water down.
Talked with my doc on the phone and he rearranged how and when I should take my meds and stayed out of the hospital that night. Saturday was a blur... but I kept hydrated with water and managed to keep the meds down. Sunday I added in very minimal easy to digest food and made it through thanks to the meds. Today, I had my appt with my family doc and he noted that my gut is still very tender so a few more days of eating mush and keeping up with my liquids and I should be just fine...
This has been a very painful, disgusting couple weeks in total thanks to this stomach bug. He figures that it's something viral, so just time and patience is needed. The meds make it so I can at least eat something.... which is a good thing, cuz I miss food. It also seems that thanks to this stomach bug, I've lost 5 lbs so, there's the silver lining. LOL... just not the way I'd recommend anyone losing weight though. :yuck:

lkprescott said:Thanks for the well wishes guy. I ended up back in the ER Thursday night... DS got sick with the stomach thing and by Tuesday of last week, I was back in the Land of Disgusting only worse than before... I have an appt with a specialist this coming Tues on the advice of both my family doc and the ER attending doc... so we shall see... everyone seems baffled and they're thinking it's got to be more going on than the stomach flu.
Needless to say, I'm really hungry... DH was a doll, we got to spend Valentine's Day together at least and without the kids but boy, was NOT the way I wanted to spend alone time with hubby. ah well... we got me a Vermont Teddy Bear made just for me! And of course tons of chocolate which is just sitting here... until I can eat again.
lkprescott said:Thankfully I was able to get a specialist appointment for tomorrow. The first two places I tried didn't have an opening until the end of the month! Geesh... after the tongue lashing I got from the ER doc no way was I waiting that long, especially if I needed meds in between (her tongue lashing involved me 'having to understand' that I can't live off of Bentyl and need to get seen otherwise the meds may mask what may be wrong)... she's right of course, too bad she couldn't have used her haranguing skills to get me an appt. LOL..
lkprescott said:Hi guys... I'm eating mostly normal now... still haven't heard back about my last round of labs... hoping that no news is good news but still begs the question of what the heck was wrong with me for so long and so pronouncedly. I've had friends get sick with this stomach thing but no one else ended up flat on their backs for weeks... they had it outta their system after a couple days. So... we'll see... I guess. LOL I actually had energy this morning to do laundry.. yeah, how exciting. LOL
lkprescott said:Oh, it's pretty self explanatory... the white one is for DD and is plain pasta, spring mix, dried fruit nut mix and a cheese stick. The back one is for DS and is same pasta with an asian mix of soy, mirin and brown rice vinegar... a sice of arame (seaweed) that's been rehydrated and spring mix for him too and a packet of fruit snacks.
missydivine said:Do you like the seaweed? I've had some and it wasn't bad. Looks really good to me. I'm going have to think about trying it.
