Early Labor Struggles: My Baby Update & 35 Week Belly Pic

In summary, Gil is in early labor but still having regular contractions and is waiting for something to push her to leave or stay in the UK. She is worried about her health and the health of her baby.

are you still thinking???Gillian, I posted a question concerning you staying or leaving PC, but I am sure with all of the other fun stuff ya'll have been discussing, it got overlooked! Are you seriously considering leaving PC when you just promoted???? Maybe something got lost on me, but I have oodles of advice for you if you want it (not on the baby birthing thing-I had to be induced early with both pregnancies as I tend to grow large babies!).

One more very unrelated thing....have you ever noticed that you & Jennifer Knapp look alike in your attached photo???!!!!!

LOL Jennifer- I am sure that man is on his way... I never saw a specialist before I got pregnant because I didn't know I had it. It took me 8 month to get pregnant with my first, which could be related to this but there is no way to tell. The disorder has a very high early miscarriage rate, but since I am irregular anyway there was no way to know what was a miscarriage and what was a 'late' period.

I took the aspirin throughout my pregnancy and we started trying for a second child ASAP. It took another 8 months to get pregnant again before I finally realized that taking the baby aspirin BEFORE conception would help me get/stay pregnant. I did the aspirin again the whole pregnancy and everything was fine.

With Baylor we were trying but not trying so I didn't take the aspirin. I got pregnant anyway after a few months and started taking the aspirin as soon as I found out. I am considered 'high risk' but more for the dangers at the end of the pregnancy with the placenta aging so quickly than the miscarriage risk at the beginning.

I wish that I had seen/currently saw a specialist because everyone knows so little about it that I can't get a straight answer from anyone. I see the other doctor in the practice Thursday afternoon (the evening for you east coasters!) so I will know more about the plan of action (if any!) then.

I do know that the early rate of miscarriage is true...my mom had 3 early miscarriages, but had me and my brother without any problems! They didn't realize that she had this until they did a huge blood study on her after a total hysterectomy a couple of years ago and were considering hormone replacement. Well, we aren't candidates for birth control (I was on the pill for a couple of years before I was tested and found out I am positive) or for any replacement therapy once we go through menopause. Lucky us!! You should definitely see a specialist ASAP, not just for pregnancies, but for surgeries, etc. We aren't sure yet if her medicine that she was taking to prevent blood clots after her knee surgery had maybe caused the abnormal amount of bleeding, which has complicated her surgery by about 1000! I am really nervous because hematology hasn't really been informed about the past 4 weeks, and I don't want an emergency anything to happen to either of us without a plan of attack in place....

Meg- I am thinking of leaving PC. I just don't have the energy or motivation for it right now. I would much rather host a show every six months and get the new stuff than sell it. I have put so much money and time in, but I am not getting much back now that I am so unmotivated.

I haven't made a final decision because once the baby comes I might feel differently, but I am really tired of having my PC stuff "in the way" and just wish I could have an "take it!!" day with my downline and they can dig through my collection of products and consultant stuff. Hopefully something will swing me one way or another soon...

Jennifer- I am glad that your mom is okay and that you know about it before it can endanger you! I know that taking the aspirin really sucks because it thins my blood so much that when I do bleed (like all the nosebleeds I have when the seasons change) it is really hard to stop! When I was in the hospital a few weeks ago they had to try 4 times to get the IV in and each stick spot was gushing. I also bruise really easily when I take it so I look like a cage fighter just from rough housing with my kiddos...

Gil-try to keep your spirits up! I have a friend that quit her PC business with career sales over $50K, 3 recruits and then when the pregnancy hormones wore off, she realized she had made a huge mistake. She started all over, but my suggestion is to not do anything for a few months after that baby girl FINALLY gets here. My director did several catalog shows for a few months when she had her last child, and she gave incentives for high sales as well as for future bookings. I know life is icky right now, just don't make any rash decisions. Put your PC stuff out of sight if you can and just concentrate on the baby and yourself;)

Hey Gillian!

I remember when I was at the end of a very difficult pregnancy - I felt just like you! I was just getting ready to accept directorship (a place I have never found myself in again) but I was tired, VERY focused on making sure I had a healthy baby, and really, felt like I couldn't care less about my PC business! I took a couple months leave of absence, lost my recruits, but managed to hang on to my business by the skin of my teeth. My baby was born in June - I did one show every other month until November. By then, I was ready to get back in the fight and work my business more. For me it was the realization that I did really want to do this - even during those months when I couldn't find any motivation, I knew that I didn't want to start over from scratch - I had just made my $15,000 and gotten a raise, I had built a pretty good customer base.....and I decided that although I needed to put it on hold, I didn't want to just throw it all away.

Right now, you need to do what is best for your health and Baylor's health - ask for a leave of absence, so you don't lose what you have built, and take that time to rest, not think about PC all the time, but also at the same time, weigh the pros and cons of quitting vs. continuing.
What I wouldn't suggest you do is to make a decision right now - you are tired, emotional, and can't help but have total "mommy focus"......give it some time before making a final decision!
I've been praying for you - especially now with the info re: your blood disorder, and will continue to pray for your health and Baylor's health.
Oh - and I sure hope you are still naming her Baylor - because that's what we are all calling her!;)

great advice Becky!

  • #157
Hey Gillian!

Take your time deciding. You don't want to give up all you have worked forand end up being sorry later.

Take a leave of absence first & give it thought after the baby arrives & things settle down. Do the minimum to stay active for awhile. The new catalog in the spring next year could be a motivator;)

I did see your name twice in the CN :D :D :D & remember how proud you were that it would be in there!:D

Lots of love & prayers are out here for ya!

Thanks ladies! I promoted in April, so I have April, May & June with my requirements waived as training months. July, August and September would be relinquishment months if it got to that point. I have plenty of time to decide, and I have a few shows that I HAVE to do, so I am hoping I can coast for a while until I get my groove back. If the groove never comes, then I can say I gave it my best shot and didn't quit while on a hormonal high :D

Becky- it's still Baylor... Baylor McKinley Wright. Mommy finally gets her BMW, LMAO!!

LMAO!! I just caught this comment- sorry! Jennifer and I have heard this for a while, but there was a funny moment when I was replying to Jennifer with my husband over my shoulder. He asked why I was replying to myself. I was kinda confused for a second and then realized he thought that Jennifer was me. Gotta love Men!!

I didn't see the comment until Gillian just replied back to it! ...We have heard it before! I doubt that we would look alike in person though, Gillian is teeny tiny and I have lots of extra baggage ;)

LOL about your husband thinking it was you...

I had forgotten about that too! Update that pic girl! I am getting my hair colored June 29th. Me and my hair dressed are going to be out of town at different times until then.

Dude. Thats the funniest thing I've read in a long time. LMAO!

Seriously, Gillian, it gets better... I had major "growing pains" when I first promoted & seriously thought about throwing in the towel too. It's definately an adjustment, but if you stick with it, you'll be so glad in a couple of years when you look back and see what you built!

  • #166
Ok Laura, in your signature, I see TPC for recruiting-please share how you achieved that!

Gillian-how are you feeling today? I know it doesn't help to tell you this, but your BMW has a timeline of her own and will come when she is ready! Is this your first girl? I found that the whole pregnancy was way different with my girl and the struggles have never stopped! She's 7 now and we butt heads daily!

  • #167
Oooo, I can second that about little girls! I am so totally convinced that they are BORN with PMS!!!

My daughter is 19 now, and some days, we get along pretty well, almost like girlfriends would. But then there are those "other days"....yikes!! lol

But, all in all, I'm really glad I have her, in spite of it all!!

Hey ladies- This is girl #2, baby #3 and both my girls were the ones giving me trouble, LOL!

I had my appointment this morning and was then sent to labor & delivery to be monitored ALL DAY!! I had a really bad headache and couldn't keep any food down but I think it was just a bug. They wanted to keep me overnight and I had originally agreed, but then I decided that I would be way more comfortable at home. They made me eat dinner and it stayed down so they okayed me to leave. I am super tired so I am going to bed, but I wanted to update you guys!

  • #170
Oh you poor thing! I TOTALLY feel for you! A week before Easter I was 37 weeks pregnant and I got food poisoning!! I'm glad you're feeling better now!!

  • #171
I was thinking if you were gone all day yesterday that you were in labor....keep hangin' in there:)

  • #172
Hi, Gillian....anything new to report?

By the way, are you taking a laptop to the hospital, so you can send us an announcement after delivery??? lol

Hope you're feeling well!

Paula

Keep us posted and good luck with her.

Poor thingHang in there! You poor thing. Rest is a great blessing, so sleep as much as you can right now!

I hope things start getting better for you in the health department. By the way is your hubby taking time off from both jobs to be with you and baby #3 when she does come?

I am looking forward to my husband's week vacation after delivery. It is so great to have him around, but I know not all dads are given that option even if they do want it.

I will keep praying for you Gillian. I haven't been feeling so great after having to start taking my insulin shots for my gestational diabetes. I have to poke my finger 7 times a day to check my blood sugar level and I have to take 4 shots a day plus I am on a strict diet. I am very cranky!! And tired!!
I am so glad we are done with school and just relaxing until baby comes. I do find joy in getting ready for the baby by going out and buying things I will need for him. I would kill for a krispy kreme donut right now!! LOL

I do have a bit of news- I am going to be induced on June 7th (Thursday) at 6:30 AM!! I am so excited! I know personal opinions on inductions vary greatly, but I have always had a great experience and will be relieved to not have to worry about kick counts every few hours. Also it will make childcare for my toddlers a lot more reliable. Of course now that I have my date set I will probably go into labor before then, LOL!

I won't have my laptop because Alaska is 10 years behind the rest of the world so there is no internet. I will bring a few cheffers #'s with me so I can give someone the news and they can post it.

Debbie- I am sorry you are having such a rough time! It sure doesn't sound like fun along with all the other great pregnancy stuff too! My DH will be with me on Thurday and Friday but will have to go back to work on Saturday and Sunday because his course is busiest on the weekends (I am sure most are, LOL!).

I will have lots of help from both our families, and my mom is planning on taking a few days off to help as well. I usually feel great after delivery and am fine with being alone on day 2 or 3, but this time I am getting my tubal ligation and am concerned about how I'll feel after that. It is sad to know that I only have 5 days left of being pregnant for the rest of my life, but it is the right choice for us...

Debbie - sorry to hear that. I can sympathize with the finger pricking and diet trouble. It got so old with my first that I didn't behave as well for my 2nd! Hang in there!!!!
Are you stuck with no sugars or carbs? Can you have something a little sweet at all? I could do sweets but no carbs but TOTALLY craved breads and pastas all pregnancy - drove me nuts!

I'll be praying that it gets better for you.

June 7th is a great day - it was my parent's anniversary.

I hope it goes well and helps relieve your fears over your placenta and your condition. I don't do well with pitocin personally, but if your body handles it well, that is great. Try to get some rest before then.

  • #184
My first two were inductions and I had an induction scheduled with the third, but she came on her own a day early. I still ended up having pitocin with #3 because labor came to a screeching halt at one point and my OB decided to kick-start things again... The first two were boys and the last one was a girl - go figure that SHE was the one to give me the most trouble!!:p
While I hated having the first two by induction, both were medically necessary (for different reasons) and I wouldn't change anything. Even though IMO it is usually best to let nature take it own time, sometimes nature needs a little nudge (or in the case of pitocin - a giant kick in the patootie)!!

Can't wait to hear about Baylor when she comes!!!!

BTW... how are things going with the OB's & your condition? Are you feeling better about it or still anxious?

I do great with pitocin so I am looking forward to it... I am not sure if she is going to hook the pit up ASAP or just break my water and see what my body does. I am famous for being 4 cms and then 5 minutes later screaming to push. We'll see how it goes and what other curveballs Baby Baylor has in store for us.

Katie- I do feel a lot better and the other OB admitted that she didn't know much about my condition. I think that is part of the reason she bumped my induction up a few days because it wasn't supposed to be until the week of the 10th.

WOW! Even if she doesn't know much about your condition, you have a GREAT doc if she admits she doesn't know. It is sad that we should be so surprised at that, but so many MDs act like know-it-alls and won't admit when they don't something. I'm really happy for you that you are feeling better about the situation! But don't forget to keep asking questions and speaking up... YOU are your best advocate!

She was a lot nicer than I gave her credit for, but I still feel jipped that my doctor didn't even tell me she was leaving. If she didn't tell me (whose due date falls in the EXACT middle of her vacation) then who did she tell?? I am also really thankful to have the induction because I will have the doctor for sure instead of the midwives at the practice. If GOD FORBID something happened during the induction and I had to have a c-section she is right there with me whereas with the midwife they would have to call the doc.

  • #188
I can feel with you about the doc not being there. Last year when I was expecting our 4th we had a similar experience. At 37 weeks my doctor announces that she has to leave suddenly to go to China to pick up her adopted child. While I was happy for her and her family I was like WHAT THE ?XI@#!! I saw a few of the other docs in her practice. One made me feel like I was being raped on the table. Another one had absolutely NO bedside manners. He was rude, insulting and condescending. I switched practices at 39 weeks. No one wanted to take me because of how far along I already was. The offices I found were great! I wish I had been with them the whole time.

Gillian,
I am very excited for you!! Are you going to take another "belly picture" before the 7th, just because you can? lol

I must say, I'm going to miss reading this thread, once Baylor makes her appearance! It's been fun, to tell you the truth, to sort of "follow along" with you!

I hope all goes well!!

LOL! I actually will take one more belly picture on Tuesday as my 38 week pic. I have been taking them every week since 25 weeks so I can make a scrapbook page of my growth. The pic that I posted on this thread was just the practice picture for the real pic that I will take on Tuesday. My grandmother passed away in 2001 and never met my children but she hand knit all the future great grandchildren newborn baby booties. I need to take another picture like the first one that uses her booties instead of storebought ones but I didn't have them at the time!

I am glad that I could share my last pregnancy with all you ladies, and I am excited to meet my newest baby cheffer!

Gillian I have been reading your posts I hope all goes great for you with your induction and you tubal. I was induced with all 3 of mine. the 3rd I traveled to UT (4 hrs away) cause my OB here decided she did not want to deliver my baby.

I think she is more excited about the Dora Spaghettios I promised her she could eat while with the babysitter!!

Jenine - I haven't had kids yet, so I may be asking a dumb question. How can your OB who you have been seeing and PAYING decide not to deliver your baby!?!?

Congratulations Gillian!!CONGRATULATIONS GILLIAN on your induction date!! How exciting!! It is great to know ahead of time when that baby is coming!! I had my first two induced!! My fourth was scheduled but came on his own.

I am so happy for you! Last time being pregnant, I know that can make you sad but if it's the right choice for your family, you are doing the right thing!

I am feeling horrible today and stayed home from church. My insulin makes me hungry, then sleepy. Everywhere I get picked on my belly is itchy and it's driving me nuts. I felt so nauseous these past couple of days just because some foods that I am not eating are not agreeing with my tummy.

JANET I am not allowed any sweets and only 15 g of carbs per bread allowance in my diet. It stinks. I have sneaked in a little chocolate here and there but in small quantities during snacks and I have been doing great.

I do not look forward to having to raise my insulin injection amounts next time I see the doctor which is this Thursday. I have been keeping a journal of everything I eat and logging my blood level numbers.

I have been having horrible leg cramps. I mean knots the size of oranges and it's so painful!! I can only sleep on my right side or I feel like I can't breathe.

Sorry Gill for hijacking this thread with my post! I am venting and thought I could do so on your pregnant thread. Keep us posted!! Counting down with you, only four days to go!!!

Debbie :D
