Carolyn..NO charge of course...The laughs I think we will have I think will be plenty..just tell Evan to have that dance ready..HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH..
BAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!

Wow!! You're right Carolyn--you need someone to help rescue you! Although I have to say, mine has looked like that in the past! I've been doing the touch it once file system for over a year and it's amazing how it actually works!!!! (now if only the hubby would adapt to it!)

I just got a new camera, so I'll try to take pics tomorrow and see what I can do to show you my office. It's not pretty-but I love it. the furniture was a bribe :) my hubby wanted a laptop to himself, I wanted furniture--we both win!!!! Now if I could just get rid of the guns hanging on the wall--i'd be much happier! (you'll see when I post pics!)

What's touch-it-once?

Right now I am organizing my lap top. I have folders labeling Mailing #1 with everything I will send, Mailing #2...etc, so I can just click and adjust the names. This will be quick and easy. If something new comes Along I think I will just put them in a folder labeled other Hostess Packet Info.

touch it once, basically means what it says. when you get your mail for example, you open it then file it right away--bill paying area, garbage, file folder, etc. then it's done, you don't have to look at it again ever! (unless you need it!)

I used to have piles all over my desk--things that needed filing, paid, something done with it, etc. and I'd get to those piles maybe twice a year. so needless to say they were pretty big and an all day or week adventure--something you're never looking forward to doing. now I only have one pile for my receipts during the week and I always make time normally on sundays to enter them into PP and file right away. theoretically my taxes will be easy to do this year since i've kept up with it! that reciept pile normally takes about 5 minutes total--sooooo much easier than a day or more!

good luck with it--it really has saved me!

great thread :)
of course I just purged my office and started looking on my computer for a recent but pre-purge pick. I am, to put it gently, office challenged.
I was looking at the pics and thinking....hey none of these are bad I have to find a pic.....then came Carolyn! I would have never guessed!!!!
You must have that same office gene missing as me!
I will upload a new pic of my organizing in progress office.
I can't have Carolyn be the only one!

My paper organizer came from Sams, I had 2 styles from there but DS has the nicer one for all his sheet music.

Much better than it was a week ago. I cleaned and threw out 6 Big Black Lawn & Leaf bags of Junk!

THanks! :D

I like that paper organizer too. I have just a short 3 stack one and it's NOT enough. I'm SO tempted to go out and get one, but I should wait for the organizer to give me some suggestions. Too bad she doesn't travel to Florida.:p Although I"m sure she would, but those travel expenses would be too much.:)

My daughter was looking at the pics with me today and she said mom why can't you be normal?
I don't allow anything on my fridge, my bulletin board has a pink breast cancer ribbon from a friend, ticket stubs from our Vince Gill concert & my son's college address.
I HATE the paper sorter because I am the type that only wants to be surrounded by "cutesy" stuff & I haven't figured out a way to disquise it yet. my kitchenaid on my counter is another "obstacle" but it's too heavy to move when I need it..
We were at our best friend's house over the holidays and she still had her kids dental appt cards & camp info on her fridge from '03 Her house does give me the willys!! They eat out alot because they have no space on the dining room or kitchen table. Once her son's jacket was lost & they looked for months. When they moved we found it under the dining room table.

What about making or purchasing a cover for your KA? That will help to hide it a little! And you could even do the same sort of thing for the paper sorter. if it is huge, then hang a cute piece of fabric over it.

that really isn't my style. I grew up with a seamstress mom and everything had a quilted (made from an actual quilt design not plain quilted fabric) including out toilet tissue holder.

Carolyn.
To do the split screen just let your cursor rest on the edge of the window you are using. a double side-to-side arrow will come up. Then click and slide to the left or right to make the windows larger or smaller. You can do that with all the windows on your screen so you can do multiple things without having to switch (and wait ) between screens.
***On a side note I am working on many differnt self improvement things at the moment and ALL of them say that I will be more effectiove if I start with a clear desk=clear head.
So I just chucked what I could and then took everything , hole punched it and stuck it in binders.
Not perfect, but it keeps my desk clear.
I have had my desk so high that I couldn't see the computer screen.
6 bags of garbage....that should give you a clue.
Thanks :)

Carolyn,
My desk looks the same. I have stuff piled everywhere. Unfortunately the rest of my house is not much better. PC has taken over the house. Th only rooms safe are the boys rooms and not much longer as I am starting hope chests for them for when they move out. I swear this lack of organization is hereditary as my Mom was the same way until she got older and now she is a clean freak. I am counting the days :)
