I have a question about doing a kitchen show out of the state. If I do a demo for my mom when I go to visit her in South Dakota, what can I deduct as far as taxes? Gas? Hotel on the way there? Just wondering if I could do that. Also, I am driving to Chicago and we CAN deduct all expenses for our trip to conference right???? I am actually going straight from Chicago to my moms in South Dakota!:D

Yes, Kelly the trip to your mother's is a tax write-off. We cannot claim gas, but you need to keep a log of your miles. Keep all meal receipts and hotel receipts. Then speak to a tax person. As far as the meals go there is some stipulation on how much can be written off. Just be sure to carefully document all the money you spend.
