Well, I have just had two more cancelled shows for this month, and two more parties that were booked that said no. Another is iffy because the host had surgery. Another host, party on Fri., won't return my calls. The party I shadowed produced no bookings despite two calls to the host and her mother. Yes, I have been doing great host coaching, following up, calls of encouragement, and offering help.
I went from 6-8 to maybe one. Ugh! This is not a good way to start.
I have left catalogs, flyers and mailings everywhere, did follow-up emails and calls. I am thru my list of 100. People express interest, but when I call for orders or email them, I get no response. I really have been pushing the great products and advantages of the great free and discount products. The fundraiser projects were not interested. Cold calls produced nothing and hang up or are rude. Businesses basically closed the door in my face. Most prohibit outside soliticians. Doctors offices do not let you leave catalogs. My one potential recruit didn't even look at the director's website despite my many emails to her, and she approached me. Forget the family and friends since some of them booked and then cancelled. If I can't get out there, there is not any potential for future bookings. Vendor show got no results.
Right now I am out several hundred dollars (which I can't afford because I am broke), with no prospects for shows. Even my Oct. maybes will not committ. I can't force people to do this. Now, I understand why there is only one other rep in this area because bookings are impossible to get.
With the ever increasing gas prices ($1.00 increase in 5 days), I am not leaving the house unless I have to do errands.
I think quitting and eating my losses would be better than continuing since there is no response in my area. I feel really sad because I have put in 40 hour weeks learning, taking classes, calling, emailing, driving around to leave catalogs, making up flyers, using the phone book, etc. I can't drive hours away beause of my foot problem.
