Iam not mentionng any names... but about two years ago a lady in Florida a AD acually got bagged. She sold on Ebay it was how she earned trips and got so much in sales everymonth.

She had the Ebay account set up under her sisters name and address. On an average day she would have over 200 PC auction on Ebay.

Here is how she got caught... A consultant bought items from her and asked fop a catalog saying she wanted to place a huge order... the lady sent her a catalog. With all her contact info on it !

She sold for over 2 1/2 years before she got caught ! Crazy !

These people will get caught ... it just takes time !

If you look at her sale history on ebay, you will find PC sales in order as of date and price! Too bad that it makes it harder for others who sell honestly. Must not like PC!
I wonder if her director knows about this?:(

I wonder if she is a director and has doubles to get rid of.....

Has to be..and that is the sad thing, because if it was a newbie consultant and didn't realize it, then I can feel for them. But a director, they should def know better, especially when they are recruiting others...

exactly!!!!

I am a Director and have doubles and NO MORE ROOM. I am holding a sale with my consultants. I sent them all an e-mail and they sent me their lists. I am also getting rid of some older products that I just don't use anymore.
I would never risk my status as a Director for a few bucks or points on ebay.

If she's a director she should definitely know better.

Item: PAMPERED CHEF CONSULTANT BLACK COOKWARE BAGS--NIP!! (320076540053)
Subject: Re: Question for item #320076540053 - PAMPERED CHEF CONSULTANT BLACK COOKWARE BAGS--NIP!!

Q: Do you email everyone who has PC listed?? It is unfortunate that is all you have time for--

My response:No... I usually just report them to Pampered Chef. What is truly unfortunate is that you can't just sell locally, that you have to cheat (condition #1 of the agreement).

Anne, you should have replied, "No, but Gillian does. I'm reporting you to her!":D

With my extras, I save them for my downline girls as an incentive when they do a good job, for drawings at fairs, prizes at meetings, some I give to hosts. I can't imagine selling on ebay, not only is it wrong but I'd be scared to death I'd get caught!

I look at the auctions once and awhile to laugh - there was a girl not long ago selling an obviously old large round stone - she showed the box and it was the old style box from three or four years ago. She had it listed as "NEW"..and in essence it is...but not really. She didnt answer back. Back in Sept when the new selling season started, someone had our self-sharpening knives listed as Discontinued! I emailed her. She emailed me back and said "Im selling these for my sister who is a consultant and she says they are discontinued because PChef got new forged knives" !!!!! LOL....I told her to tell her sister to check the catalog and selling on ebay was against PC rules and I was going to report her. Never heard back. She was in Fla - I remember that. Maybe I'm the one who busted the director who sold for 2 1/2 years! Go Me!!!

LMAO!! I have nothing better to do, send them my way!!

Maybe we should focus more on how to increase our own sales legitimately than trying to be the PC police.
I'm sure Pampered Chef is well aware of this and monitors it on a regular basis.

So it's not fair and they are breaking the rules. Karma is very real. They will get theirs someday, somehow.....

IMHO I feel that it is our responsibility to report those who break the rules when we find them. If we do not, then who will? To not punish is to reward. And, yes PC is aware of it, but they depend on us to be the "eyes and ears" and encourage us to report this sort of behavior. If you witness someone stealing shouldn't you report it? In my mind the people on ebay are theives. No matter how others try to candy coat it or explain it away. I certainly believe in karma, which is my mind comes about when these people are reported.

I can tell you are new to this forum and I appreciate where you are coming from, but the great thing about PC is that WE get to decide how to spend our time, and if I wish to spend all day and night reporting ebay offenders, I will, since my business is mine to worry about.

I agree with Anne. I believe that Pampered Chef does not monitor this at all and relies on us to bring them in. It would really clear out eBay if someone devoted 8 hours a day to "catching" these people, especially if they had access to PC information. If someone at HO could cross check to see if there really is a consultant named Cindy Cheater in the town where the seller CindyC1968 is selling PC it would go a lot faster.

Until then I will keep my eye out and report to PC as I feel neccessary.

And.....it's a lot of fun when you do find someone! :p

They do monitor it. Here is a post from a previous thread.

Actually TPC has a page on there, unlike the other companies that refrain from their products being sold, TPC says that consutlants cannot sell, and that they do not back any warrenties and that those products being sold may be defective. But it says that the pictures, wording (ie; description, warrenty, etc) is copyrighted and cannot be used. So technically, most of the people selling ebay could be turned in b/c of the wording that they use.

Here is the page

Not sure that it will work, but tried it anyway.:)

Ah, that looks like their VERO account! :) I have one for work, you don't sell or buy on it but have it on E-bay with a signed VERO agreement and use it to report unauthorized listings against your company. Luckily, PC should have a fairly easy time finding these if they have someone assigned to it because all you have to do is search by "Pampered Chef". At work, I rely on people that are co-workers or our customer reporting unauthorized use of our images, then I log on and report the listing to E-bay and they pull it. After "X" number of violations E-bay will suspend their user...

That's interesting but TPC doesn't seem to be doing anything about all those pictures and claims on eBay. How could they? What kind of consequences could they have? I can see that people buying on eBay could be upset with us and TPC because the seller lied about the product or warranty but I can't see how they can do anything about the use of the copyrighted materials (other than suspending consultants who sell there of course.)

I have had guests say "I have a stone I bought on eBay for only $10 and even with shipping was less than this price". My answer is "You were lucky. Most of the time with auctions and then the shipping it actually costs more on eBay than through a consultant. If you got it for less, good for you but you were taking your chances! For instance, if it came broken from PC they would replace it at no charge (and for 3 years). Would your seller do that?" Of course we don't want to make the customer feel bad - just to think about the benefits of buying from a legitimate consultant.

I got an email once from HO and they said that they did go after those selling on ebay. I think they give them a warning and then suspend them. Of course with the volume of sellers this is an ongoing problem.

Right. But I'm talking about the non-consultants that are selling and using the copyrighted pictures. I can't see what they can do to them other than sue but then what would that do besides cost lawyer fees - there are too many. lol

Oh, I see what you're saying! Or, I guess they would have to pursue something against ebay for allowing copyright infringement or something like that.

That's where VERO comes in...using the account you saw, they report to E-bay and E-bay pulls the listing and deals with the offender at various levels.

PC wouldn't go against E-bay because each person is responsible for the content of their listings. E-bay goes against the seller on PC's behalf.

It sounds too complicated for me! But I think its cooL!

I've been a member here for over a year, I just don't chime in with all my input and opinions. I'm not trying to accumulate points for stars.....

I just honestly believe if we focused half as much energy to our own personal goals and sales instead of worrying what people on EBAY are doing, then we would reap far more benefits.
PC is well aware of the potential violations on EBAY and I believe it's their duty to monitor that activity and discipline for it. I'm sure they have competent employees that can "search for violators" just as well as we could do.

I'm not saying that what they are doing is right, just tired of hearing all the PC police stuff here.
We should be making our own business more profitable. How many calls could you have made or sales earned in the time it took to page through EBAY, email the sellers and what not..... that's all I'm saying.

OK, gotta chime in.... There have been threads on this site that were not my cup of tea.... I do not go back and read those threads, simple as that...

I couldn't care less how other consultants spend their time as long as they are not giving PC and the rest of us a bad name.

If goofing arround here makes you feel better... then goof away....

I know there are days I need to be here for my sanity and sometimes it's the only entertainment I get!

just my .02$

OK, I am trying to be polite here, but I don't appreciate the digs (calling us "PC Police" more than once and the comment about the stars). I am always open to different points of view (that's how we learn), but when they are offered in a constructive, open manner. You can disagree with anyone on this board, even me, but please don't be insulting. Even if we are ignorant and wastng our time.

We are discussing an issue we face everyday. Perhaps you will feel differently about the whole ebay issue if/when someone expresses their extreme displeasure about your company at a show in front of everyone because of a product they bought off of ebay from a consultant. Or, they say at a show "I'll just get that off of ebay, its so much cheaper." I hope you don't experience it, because its pretty humiliating. I am sorry, but like etteluap70PC, I feel that people who sell on ebay are giving the company a bad name and I'm not going to let anyone do that if I can help it when possible.

And, for the record, I have to say that, for me, the number of posts I have as a symbol of the opinions and input I have provided other consultants as well as all of the help I have received when asking for help. I didn't post to earn anything except a better understanding of what this business is or help someone else out. I can't speak for everyone, and really, its none of my business why they post, I'm just glad they have. And if that star makes them feel better, where's the harm?

Again, my time is also mine to do with what I want. While I would never tell someone how to run his or her business, I have to wonder: How much better would your business be if you weren't giving us a hard time about what we we're discussing?

And, you don't have to read the threads that don't appeal to you. If you are not interested in offering something constructive to the conversation, why post? Greg is the site admin... we trust that if we are out of line, he will let us know.

Anne.....you always say things so much more tactfully than I would! (Guess that's why I sometimes piss people off...:p ) Anyhow, she may not have the extra time to take away from her business by posting (oh and earning stars....), but it does appear that she has plenty of time to read threads that she doesn't like, that irritate her, and that she disagrees with......

And, I have to say that my business has GROWN so much since I found this site. I was really floundering (is that even a word?) last spring and wondering if I should be doing this. I was internet surfing for a recipe and came across this site. I have learned so much! I have gotten so many ideas! I have found alot of support! My business has really grown! I feel like I have contributed and helped others! I have even made a lot of new friends! (that I cannot wait to actually meet in the flesh at conference!) Even though I religiuosly attend ALL of my Cluster Meetings (have never ever missed) I get alot more ideas here that I do from my Director and other consultants on our team. I even pass on some of these ideas to them.

I WOULD NOT be where I am today without this site and all of our fun! And yes, I'm proud of my Stripper Star!:D

Well stated Anne

Hopefully you didn't scare her away Anne! You'll notice I am staying mum on the whole Ebay thing. It got my feathers ruffled one too many times before.

I need to speak up and agree with Anne- my business is flourishing and my calls are made. Even if they weren't it is none of your business what I do with my free time. Yes I post a lot, but it is in no way to "accumulate points for stars" and I feel like everyone here is my friend. I can only hope that in the combined 7600 posts that Anne and I have made that we have helped almost every person on the board. In return I have gotten questions answered, files, and general advise from most members. I am here for the same reasons you are, and should not be judged for the amount of time I spend here whether I am helping other consultants or just talking amongst friends.

I have also been stopped in the middle of a show and asked why they just can't get it on eBay. I kept my cool but was mortified! In this day and age it is natural to think of eBay, but it is job security as a consultant to properly inform my customers.

If I was working in a jewelery store and saw another employee selling 'not yet available' jewelery in the alley after work to MY customers/potential customers illegally you bet your buns the right person is going to hear about it!

I have to agree. Gillian and Anne are two of the most helpful people I have found on this board. Their input, along with that of the many other wonderful cheffers here, has helped my business tremendously. I am thankful that they come on here and post everyday, because it is to the benefit of the rest of us. How they spend their time is none of our business, and clearly, their businesses are not suffering from it. You don't have to agree with anything that is written on here, but please don't insult others for expressing their opinions.

Anyways, thanks ladies, and keep up the great work!
