Hi -

I have been asked to put together a basket for a silent auction, and unfortunately I already submitted my Kit Enhancement. I ordered but do not want the new Plate Caddy, Tumblers, and Serving Pieces.

Any suggestions on putting together the rest of the basket on the cheap?

Any suggestions on what marketing materials to put in the basket, other than business cards?

Thanks!

I always put in a large magnetic calendar, which I get for free from Vistaprint. People seem to like the fact that it is useful, but it still has my contact information on the bottom! Also, what about the party set on the Outlet? That might make a nice basket by itself, even.

I'm thinking about doing a silent auction also, but instead of a basket, I was going to just have a flyer with a certain amount of your choice from the catalogue. I haven't decided how much yet.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are some budget-friendly basket ideas for a silent auction?

Some budget-friendly basket ideas include a "Cooking Essentials" basket with basic utensils, a "Baking Bonanza" basket with baking mixes and tools, a "Family Game Night" basket with board games and snacks, a "Movie Night" basket with popcorn and DVDs, and a "Gardening Starter Kit" with seeds and small tools. You can often find items at discount stores or use donations from local businesses to keep costs low.

How can I effectively market my silent auction baskets?

To effectively market your silent auction baskets, use social media platforms to share appealing images and descriptions of the baskets. Create a dedicated event page, utilize email newsletters, and engage with local community groups. Additionally, consider using flyers or posters in high-traffic areas and collaborating with local influencers to reach a wider audience.

What materials should I include with my silent auction baskets?

Include a detailed list of the items in the basket, their retail value, and any special features or benefits. Additionally, consider adding a Pampered Chef catalog, business cards, and a flyer with information about your direct sales business. This helps potential buyers understand the value of the basket and encourages them to explore more of your offerings.

How can I keep costs low when creating silent auction baskets?

To keep costs low, consider pooling resources with other direct sellers or local businesses to create themed baskets. Look for sales, use coupons, and buy in bulk when possible. Additionally, ask for donations from local businesses or use items you already have on hand to fill the baskets creatively.

What are some tips for setting the starting bid for my silent auction baskets?

When setting the starting bid, consider the total retail value of the items in the basket and aim for a starting bid that is 20-30% of that value. This encourages bidding while still providing a good deal for the winner. Additionally, research similar baskets from past auctions to gauge appropriate starting bids and adjust based on your audience's willingness to spend.
