Looking for Disney money saving tips for a family of 5 at the Contemporary?

Click For Summary
Glow bracelets and necklaces can be purchased cheaply at dollar stores, saving money for visitors to theme parks. Rain ponchos are essential due to frequent Florida downpours; bringing your own helps keep group members identifiable. Stroller rentals at Disney are expensive and cumbersome, so bringing a collapsible umbrella stroller is recommended for convenience. Packing snacks and a refillable water bottle is encouraged to avoid high food costs in the parks. Off-site shopping for souvenirs is advised, with options available at Walmart and other retailers to avoid park prices. For those without a car, grocery delivery services can bring items directly to hotels. Visitors should be aware of the limitations on bringing food and drinks into the parks, with specific rules regarding glass containers. Using a Disney gift card for souvenirs can help manage spending and reduce impulsive purchases. Overall, planning ahead with food, strollers, and souvenirs can enhance the Disney experience while minimizing costs.
We will be driving from Colorado :) We didnt earn the $1200 travel allowance so we will have a car and I will be doing a grocery run on Sunday :) We arrive Saturday and are leaving Thursday!

I am the Coronado, and am looking for other families that have a 5-7 year old and a teenager ( I have a 16 year old too) The pool at the Coronado is great :)

Hi Gail,
we're driving from IL. My oldest son is 6 yo. We are hitting the parks starting Saturday so I'm not sure how much downtime we'll have. We're going to follow our kids' lead and see how it goes! I know that I will be taking a dip in the pool, though!

See you at the Coronado!

We'll also be at the Coronado with kids 5-9 so we might be going in the pool as well. We might come in on Saturday and do Blizzard Beach. :)

Anyone at the Contemporary with boys in the 8-11 age range? Oh, and I guess I'll be needing a playmate for me 38yr old boy as well LOL (um, and much to his disappointment, I don't mean THAT kind of playmate LOL)

Carolyn I will be at the Grand Floridian with a 14 year old boy, 4 & 5 year old girls and a 4 year old boy. Doesn't the monorail come through there as well? Anyone else?

We are at the Coronado from the 11th-16th. I am trying not to hyperventilate about the cost of the food....we have 4 adults. With no car, where am I going to buy snacks and stuff? Shall I bring them? I know how much food is at Disneyland, I am totally panicked about this. As it is I am having to pay for 2 extra days at the hotel. Kinda sorry we are doing this now.

Garden Grocer will deliver food to your hotel.

But by the time I do that is it just about the same as eating in the parks?

I don't know--research it and decide for yourself.

Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon are Disney's water parks they are on property and so you would have transportation to them but not included in the park pass you will be getting. Kristi and I live so close that we get the annual passes.

I just found this
http://www.shopathome.com/WILD/Default.aspx?refer=85817&src=TOOLXX&dc=no
and thought some of you may like it. They are disney bathing suits for like $12.

If you are taking your baby and plan on him/her sleeping in a Pack N Play, do a dry run at home before you go to make sure he/she WILL sleep in it!

Also, if you are renting/using the crib or PNP from the hotel, be SURE to bring your own sheets.

I don't know if anyone else hates buying bathing suits as much as I do, but the only ones I will wear are from Land's End, they really look nice even if you aren't a size 2, and after 4 kids I ask a lot of a bathing suit! Anyway, I needed a new top because I am still breastfeeding and I went to the Land's End overstocks and got a bottom for $7.99 and a top for $5.99 and they have Free shipping right now!!!! Usually a top and bottom are over $100. I am so excited. Also if you buy something you don't want or like you can return it at any Sears. Just thought I would share.

If you are not bringing a laptop, make sure you bring extra memory cards for your camera. I was just taking pics of my niece before she went off to prom on Friday night and my card filled up FAST! I am going to buy another one on Amazon right now!
