EXACTLY!!!!!!
You and I are totally alike.
Now forget slap-happy...just beotch-slap me into submission and confescate my PC debit card 'til the shopping urge passes!!

If you really need to buy something to ease your pain go buy some pledge and start cleaning.!!!

Sorry, for jumping in, just got home from dinner, but I say buy 'em! You can a) use them for gifts - b) have replacement ones and - c)have a kit set and a home set if you want, and then you don't have to pack up all the time... only bring what's in the kit and maybe a piece or 2 more if you choose. Just my 2cents, but we all know I have a shopping problem (I spent a good $500 on clothes, shoes and a coach purse in the last 2 weeks...). and once again, you can write it off your taxes; now if I could only find a way to write off a coach purse... hmm...

I do the same thing. It is a great price and I really "need" this and it was such a good deal because then I am stressed about the money later.

That's what I was going to say. I've always wanted to have a designated kit, and this would be the way to get one!

Hi everyone...my name is Chris and I'm a shop-a-holic...

(In unity...) "Hi Chris!"

Kim, that's some pretty good motivation to get some interviews! I love your reasoning!

And thank you for welcoming me into the cheffers society of shopaholics. I hearby call the first meeting to order. Now the only rule for this society is to never talk about fight club (oh wait, wrong club)... the one and only rule to to not tear each other apart about purchases, but to congratulate and rationalize any and all purchases made; especially if said cheffer is completing 3-2-1 :)

"Hi, my name is Ellen, and I too am a 'shop-a-holic.'" The first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem.

but ellen, we're not here for recovery... we're here to support our habit  :D

Then I guess I'm in the right place!!!:D

Maybe we should start planning a huge shopping trip for national conference next summer! That way we can also have a thread for motivating each other to save some $$ so we can totally go wild on Michigan Ave in July!!

Well now, doesn't that just sound perfect?????
Count me in!

I did the math!Okay Carolyn,

I'm going to help you out here (or maybe confuse you some more :grumpy: ). I did the math and the value of the products in the kit is $418.75 (see attached). If you were to buy all of the products that is what you'd pay. But if you were to buy them on one of your host orders (in this case one who reached the 30% discount) you would pay $293.13. Then you would get commission on it. I'm assuming here that with your Director over-rides and your high sales that you reach the 30% commission rate so your commission on this would be $87.94. This would net out to $192.06 for the products.

I'm further assuming that you probably don't want ALL of the products that are in the kit (I could be wrong) so there would even be more of a savings.

So, my vote is DO NOT BUY THE KIT!!!! You won't get commission on it. And....I hope that this will persuade you.....

TRIP POINTS and TPC!!!!!!!

I have started buying all of my product supplies (seasonings and other items) on a host order. You never know when you need just a little bit to push you over to the next level.

Okay, that's my opinion.

OK...I was gonna say that she should buy it. My Director did this recently (with probably her 1,000 show...!!!) and here's what she's doing with it: Keeping it all together and using it at fairs/booths/our customer appreciation night, etc. Anywhere that she wants to showcase the new kit. Then, it's all pretty looking and new!

But....after reading Linda's post...I think I am changing my mind!
DON'T DO IT!!
Doesn't sound like you need it, anyway!

OH I kind of like the idea of having a new kit just for show.

Ok back to the matter at hand.....DON'T-DON'T-DON'T!!! :D :D :D

not meaning to disturb the shopaholic meeting...but I have a question.
I am approaching show 200 - - with my slow start almost 7 years ago!!! ..it's HIGH TIME...I know!
My kit was a different one...it came with the large pizza stone, deep dish baker, dlx cheese grater, etc
Well, my dlx cheese grater just broke the other day...and even though it was in my kit, it is past the guarantee, so 'too bad, so sad' , I'd have to buy another one.
So then I started thinking about the show 200 thing...and I asked my hosp. director and she didn't think they were doing that any more...but apparently they are still!! YIPPEE!!

My question to you all is, do you pay the current kit price and get the current kit products? ...or would I pay the old kit price (it was $100, not $90, when I started) and get the old kit products, which is what I would need replaced...???

thx...now on to the shopaholics meeting we go!

Nicole, you get the current kit. And it's not after show 200, it's after COOKING SHOW #200. So if you do any catalog/FR/bridal/individual orders in PP, you'll need to keep going until you're past #200 in PP.

Nicole,

Do you need everything in the kit? If I were you, I would either host my own show or buy it on a host order (See if your host will mind of you add your DH as a co-host so you can seperate the orders and have a receipt). I just believe that you should earn commission on what you buy and earn the trip points. Or wait until it's sell-a-thon and boost your incentive points.

On the other hand, since you are just now getting to 200 shows (you know it has to be 200 cooking shows - not total shows- for the kit - right?) then maybe you aren't concerned with Trip Points or incentives. In that case then you might need and want the write-off for business expenses instead. You could go either way.....hard call on this one.

I wonder why FR and Bridal don't count? There isn't an option on our PWS to add them as a catalog show so technically they are a cooking show.

Is there a way (other than physically counting yourself) to know how many KITCHEN shows you have done?
