Has anyone noticed that you can't remove discontinued items from a wedding registry? It won't let you change the quantity... which is the only way to remove an item from the registry. This is extremely annoying, especially when the items have only been redesigned! I have a couple who registered a year ago, and it seems like half their registry has a red "DISCONTINUED" label on it... even though we've added the new products.

To me, it looks really bad for PC as a company... who would want to register with a company who discontinues so much of their stuff? I know it's not like that, but a casual viewer of the registry might get a bad impression.

I've emailed HO about this twice now... maybe if more consultants bug them about it, they'll do something to remedy the situation.

I thought that they had taken them off of there... I did get the email, but.. That is a bit "ugly".

Thanks for the reminder. I was going to email them about this myself...

Yeah, they send you the email saying what items have been discontinued... but there's no way to remove them.

I saw that just yesterday as well.....it does look bad! I will email HO as well.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why can't discontinued items be removed from wedding registries?

Discontinued items remain on wedding registries to provide a complete view of the couple's preferences and choices. This helps guests understand the couple's style and the items they initially wanted, even if those specific products are no longer available.

What happens if a guest wants to purchase a discontinued item from a registry?

If a guest wishes to purchase a discontinued item, they will be informed that the item is no longer available. They can then choose an alternative item from the registry or consult with the couple for suggestions on similar products.

Can couples update their registries to remove discontinued items?

While couples cannot remove discontinued items directly, they can update their registries by adding new items or suggesting alternatives to their guests. This allows them to refresh their registry while still keeping a record of their original selections.

Why is it important to keep discontinued items on the registry?

Keeping discontinued items on the registry serves as a historical record of the couple's choices. It can also help guests understand the couple's taste and preferences, making it easier for them to select suitable gifts.

Are there any alternatives for couples who want to remove discontinued items?

Couples can reach out to customer service for assistance or guidance on how to manage their registries. They can also communicate directly with their guests about preferred alternatives or updates to their gift preferences.
