A month or so ago someone posted about challenging themself to do 50 shows in 50 states...who was that? Where is the original thread? I'm thinking about doing this and I want to reread about it before I make-up my own rules. I have a good idea of what I'm doing, just wanted to see it again. Thanks!

Hey Sue,

Can you find the original thread? Was it one you started or one ou commented on? (I wish we had a better search engine on CS!) I wanted to see your email and read the comments that were posted about it. I'm working on my newsletter and I want to put this as part of it.

thanks!

Attached is the E-mail I sent out, Feel free to use what you want. I do not know how to search the threads. It was for my June, so it was probably a thread in April or so. It did not work out as well as I had hoped, but I am continuing it. The 4 states I got enabled me to hit the $3000 level for sale-a-thon, and I am going to continue it, by putting a map of the US in a plastic sleeve, with stars on the states I have done, and ask guests at shows to help me achive this personal goal. Things have been so crazy with Farmer's Markets and recruit leads that I have yet to get it together. Let me know if you think of other ideas. I think I will try it again In November.

Thanks Kate & Sue.

I'm not going to stress myself out to do this in one month. I'm aiming to do it in 3 months (Aug-Oct). I'll keep ya'll posted.

Let me know how the 3-month plan works for you. I enjoyed doing it, even though I was not as successful as I thought it could be.

Haha, I'd be thrilled to have $3k in one month. Sue, I'm curious - are you saying you're not going to include the same 4 states in October? Since that would be about 5 months since the last time, those hosts might be interested in doing it again - to get some of the new stuff free, and also to take advantage of the double host benefit within 6 months of the original show.

I just think this is the coolest idea....off to steal....um, borrow it now!

Linda, I'll probably do this, too. Something that occurred to me, which you might want to try - when you send out your e-mail, instead of saying you're going to do it over 3 months, say you're trying to accomplish all 50 states in August. Then, at the end of August/beginning of September, send the e-mail out again, heralding how well you did, but that you didn't make the goal, and ask for help getting the remaining states. For October, do the same thing, but stress that it's the LAST MONTH for you do accomplish this (maybe saying how busy you'll be with all the holiday shopping parties). That way, you'll build up the excitement, and maybe people will be more willing to help you get those last few states!

I tried it...I got 3 solid shows with some odd orders. Can't complain!!

One of my states was South Carolina- My brother did a catalog show, and we are going to visit him in September, and he and his wife are hosting a cooking show for me. Yes, we get to write off the trip. I booked his cooking show from his catalog show, so he is excited to get double hostess benefits.

I LOVE this idea so much I just copied it!! Here's the flyer I will send out to the referrals I get from my contacts. I already got one referral for someone in Texas!
Yee haw! Keep these great ideas comin!
