...always look on the bright side of life!
(whistle)

Always look on the bright side of life...
If life seems jolly rotten,
There's something you've forgotten!
And that's to laugh and smile and dance and sing,

When you're feeling in the dumps,
Don't be silly chumps,
Just purse your lips and whistle -- that's the thing!
And... always look on the bright side of life...

(whistle)
Come on!

etcetera... etcetera... etcetera...

Yes... yes... off to bed with you. You definitely deserve a good night's rest. If sleep doesn't come easily, here is the song I sing to my daughter each night. The tune is "Hush little baby", but instead of trying to instill a commercialism in a young child by encouraging outlandish spending to calm crying (can you tell I never liked that song?), the lyrics bring to mind a cozy home in the country with a mom and her young child...

Hush little baby don't say a word,
mama's going to show you a hummingbird.
If that hummingbird should fly,
mama's going to show you the evening sky.
When the night time shadows fall,
mama's going to hear the crickets call.
While their song drifts from afar,
mama's going to show you a shooting star.
When that star has dropped from view,
mama's going to read a book with you.
When that story has been read,
mama's going to bring your warm bedspread.
If that quilt begins to wear,
mama's going to bring your teddy bear.
If that teddy bear won't hug,
mama's going to catch you a lightning bug.
If that lightning bug won't glow,
mama's going to play her old banjo.
If that banjo's out of tune,
mama's going to show you the harvest moon.
As that moon drifts through the sky,
mama's going to sing you a lullaby.

My fault - I'm a little off today - a little ticked at DH over his handling my lifeguarding recertification. He watched me lecture for my Lifeguard Instructor part but ignored most of my demonstration of my skills. My shoulder was bad the day of testing so I couldn't do the final scenarios but I told him I was capable of 2 of the 3 and to set a date for 2 weeks out for me to do my third. He didn't have me do any and after 3-4 times asking for a specific date to get this done because I am now expired and have only 30 days to complete I need to get it done soon. He still won't give me a date.I also asked him 3 times to give me the paperwork for the course to take in for the other kids and finally got it today! :grumpy: We don't have tension often, but I'm too busy to handle my life and babysit his this week...

We had one of those weeks last week. I think guys can be so single minded that they just don't realize those around them have schedules, and issues, etc...too. I don't nag or anything too often - but I had to get tough with him last week!

Yeah, I joke about that too, but never tie that to anything else in life. That is one of the sad things I think people are taught to hold sex for what they want. You don't have too...it's pretty obvious regardless when you are ticked!

We have a full week of many activities - tonight I won't get home until about 8-9 p.m. with the kids and my house is a mess and the guards want to come over tomorrow night. I won't get home until about 6:45 and they'll already be there. I'm getting a little nervous that we won't have time to make the house presentable!

Yep - DH KNOWS when the air needs to be cleared first!

Busyness was the issue for us last week - the house was a mess, we had people coming over, I had cupcakes & a cake to make & decorate, birthday presents to buy, we had a wedding to go to & a graduation open house, the roof needed to get done on the house before it rained again, I had 2 shows, and everything bubbled over. Actually, my breaking point came when he emptied the dishwasher....and piled everything on the counters, (where there were dirty dishes sitting!) and didn't put anything away. That was "helping".

UGHHHHH!!!! I couldn't agree more!!! I also am convinced that they have their very own "time of the month!!!" My hubby and I do well together most of the time but certain days we clash so darn bad, I just avoid him! LOL! Better then staying in each others faces and fighting in front of the kids! I spend a lot of time on CS when he's like that! I get my therapy through you all! :D

I have to give my kids big hugs though! Sammie cleared the kids table this a.m., helped her brother pick out his clothes for the day and made a list of things that they were going to help me with:

Her list:
1. Cleaning up dishes they use because they made the mess.
2. Put dirty clothes downstairs for the laundry when done.
3. Pick up toys and room.

...and I know she had a few more things...I stopped listening because I had to take care of something else but stopped to thank her for doing all that and that I was so happy she wanted to help.

Oops...sorry Kacey, I just hijacked your celebration for something less happy. :(

Hey!- I resemble that comment! :)

Hijack away...I hijack my own hijacks all the time! :) It's my version of multi-tasking...,

I did have fun clothes shopping. I only need a couple more items. DH wanted to come along again today (I love the man, but I want to shop ALONE) and I just wasn't in the mood to shop with company today so I didn't get anything.

I take that back, I found a nice necklace and matching bracelet at Kohl's today. Now I just need a pair of gold earrings and I'll be good on the jewelry front.

You can alwasy vent away in one of my threads, Janet! :)

Good job! Kohls is fun and dangerous. We just got one here a few months ago. I don't normally buy jewelry but around Mother's Day I had a nice coupon and jewelry was on sale. I got a silver and amethyst bracelet originally $75 for $13. :) Got to love that!

Okay, depending on how large these appear, it may take more than one post. I did not include the shoes I bought, although I should. I'll just say that I purchased a nice pair of black flats that look great with capri's and skirts, and a pair of camel/carmel colored loafer flats with a very thin sole from Talbots. I do NOT have a lot of shoes- and normally only buy 4 pair of new shoes every 4 years or so. I do buy cheap white tennis shoes from Kohl's and those get replaced each season if needed. I normally only have black or camel/brown colored shoes as they tend to go with everything. I have flats and a slight heel for fall/winter and flats and mules/slides for summer...that's it! My 4 year old niece has more shoes and my DH has more shoes than I have.

Having said that, here is the fashion show. I just went online to the stores I got stuff at and saved the pictures of the things I bought.

You might be sorry you asked for this! :)Here is my New Work Clothes Fashion Show-

http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh22/kacey1972/CBcapris.jpg
black capri's to go with the black and white gingham crinkle shirt- and other things in my closet

http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh22/kacey1972/CBdenimskirt.jpg denim skirt for casual friday and goes with the cute short sleeve orange shirt that I'll post soon...

http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh22/kacey1972/CBdress.jpg
(this dress makes the "girls" look REALLY good- at least that's what DH said as he was drooling when I showed it to him)

http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh22/kacey1972/CBorangetop.jpg Also bought this in pale yellow to go with a skirt that has turqoise, green and yellow flowers- very cute and similar to the one below- I am showing you that one, since I cannot find the one I bought online.

morehttp://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh22/kacey1972/CByellowtop.jpg here is the yellow one- goes with the pretty blue skirt that has yellow in it- no pic for that however. This top is very sheer and gauzy (sp?) so it needs a white cami underneath.

http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh22/kacey1972/CBwildtop.jpg goes with black and denim!

http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh22/kacey1972/CBginghamtop.jpg cute with black or white bottoms.

http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh22/kacey1972/CBhearttop.jpg this shirt is really sheer, so I'm looking for a red cami to wear underneath. White looks cute too. The design is little red hearts but you can't tell unless you get really close!

http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh22/kacey1972/talbotsblackstretchpants.jpg Just the bottoms- they are a black side zipped pant, and no- that is NOT me---but my girl's look as good as hers do in my dress I bought! :) LOL

I finally did give DH permission to put anything that he wasn't absolutely sure of it's home in the drainer in the sink and he still does get partial credit for emptying the dishwasher. I decided that the few minutes it takes me to put some things away was much better spent than the VERY FRUSTRATING time searching for something I desperately needed. Of course, that would always happen when DH was unreachable and I was packing for a Show. Oh well... two of his jobs are to take out the garbage and change the cat litter - the two I most despise doing, so I guess the trade is worth it.

Mine does dishes, his own laundry and takes the trash containers to the end of the driveway. I wish I could get him to empty the catbox and clean his own bathroom. I think after he gets a job I will hire a maid to come in and clean once a week. :) It'll be well worth it, that way I won't feel so pulled between keeping the housework up, cooking, grocery shopping, paying attention to the pets, and spending time with DH-

Kacey, just realized I never did say congratulations! Honestly, it's because I wanted to find the thread and read about what happened w/ your sister since I'm out of the loop on that, but I gathered she lived w/ you short-term while both you and DH were unemployed and that she probably didn't contribute financially during this difficulty. But it sounds like you were able to vent to "actual" friends here (ref. your post about spending too much time on here) and endure the trial. (James 1:2-4 says to consider it 'pure joy' rather than 'pure h-e-double hockey sticks') The wardrobe looks great!

I refuse to do DH laundry; I do enough around here while working full-time. The catbox will become his responsibility once I become pregnant, but until then, I deal with their "byproducts." I've paid a friend a few times to come clean but I'm too frugal to hire a service! Anyway, I'm becoming addicted to this site and must call it a night!

Yes you gathered right, my sister was invited to come and live with us (and her 3 year old daughter, too) after we found out that my niece's father was sexually molesting her. They were here for a little over 4 months. I was fired as a result of needing to take some time to get my sister and niece up here and settled- my company told me to take a leave of absense and fired me while finishing up my short leave.

About 2 months later my husband lost his brand new job with NO warning what so ever. We later found out that the struggling company could never afford his salary, but were hoping he'd be able to bring in new business right away, when in reality it takes a little time, and so they fired him because they could not afford to pay him and pay the other employees.

My sister still felt that she was not being told by God to go and get a job and was "waiting on the Lord" as she put it as far as getting her butt in gear to find a home, job and sue her DH for at least child support if she wasn't willing to file for divorce just quite yet.

The very short version is that it became evident that she felt entitled to our provisions and blessings, and became a rather large burden on our household. With both of us out of work, and for an entire month NO income at all- we were forced to cash in my DH 401K just to make ends meet and provide for my sister and niece who came up with with basically just the clothes on their backs.

My sister was asked to leave on Monday- immediately because she became verbally abusive and threw something at me to boot. The events that led up to that was when my DH told her on Sunday that she needed to move out ASAP. She wasn't trying to find work- or following up with places she did apply, she was treating my niece like crap- she was lazy, sat in my recliner all day and watched TV and ate and crabbed at my (now 4 year old) niece.

We had enough of it, and DH asked her to leave. Originally we were going to give her until August 1st, but in 4 months she hadn't taken advantage of being given EVERYTHING and all she had to do was find a job, so we decided she hadn't done it then, and she wouldn't do it before August so we asked her to leave.

I miss my niece terribly! Dinner is very boring at the house now, and I catch myself looking at her chair, wishing she was there. Towards the end she started to call me Mommy when my sister was out of the room, or off sulking in her room- so I love her dearly and miss her. I got to talk to her today on the phone because I called her (they are staying with my folks now- who didn't offer support financially for us to care for my sister and niece either) and told her that our dogs wanted to talk to her. My niece ADORES our dogs and they ADORE her!

When they heard her voice on speaker phone they ran for the door. It was sad because they thought she was coming home and was in the garage.

So there you have it- one lazy, ungrateful, selfish, prideful sister gets kicked out, my niece is missed so bad my heart hurts, a new job, new clothes, sad puppies and a husband that still needs to find a job and recently gained a new appreciation for his wife in being thankful that she is nothing like her sister! :)

Thanks for the congrats, and yes...this site is addictive and people on here do become your real friends! :)

Good night!
