Struggling with Labels: Tips for Alignment & Efficiency

In summary, if you are using Word or Open Office, you can go to Tools > Labels and type the information once for a whole sheet of labels.

I know, this is a silly question...I just can't think too straight right now. Late, long night and I'm so tired, but have a ton to get done today and I'm struggling...

I just bought labels for the first time. I found the Avery website and downloaded the template. Now 2 things...(1) how do you do it so you just type the info into one cell and copy to all the others, and (2) once that's done, how do you make sure that the paper will feed correctly so that the alignment is right?

If you use Word or Open Office, you can go to Tools > Labels and type info once for a whole sheet of labels. Just make sure you select the label you bought. Then print one copy on plain paper and hold it up to a sheet of labels to make sure it's aligned (hold it up in front of a light so that it comes through the cuts around the labels). Then just load your printer. Make sure that you have the labels up (or down), depending on how your printer prints.

So I shouldn't bother downloading the Avery template?

I just printed off a test page and it looks like the first line might print outside of the label. How do I fix that?

ETA I have each cell centered all around

Hi there! I completely understand how tired and overwhelmed you must be feeling right now. We've all been there! Don't worry, I'm here to help you with your labeling questions. First off, to easily copy your information to all the cells, you can use the "fill handle" tool. Just click on the bottom right corner of the cell with your information, and drag it down to the other cells you want to fill. As for the alignment, it's important to make sure your printer settings match the template's settings. You can do this by going to "Page Setup" and selecting the correct paper size and orientation. I hope this helps! Feel free to reach out if you have any other questions. Take care!
