I need to get back in the habit but I find I spend less at the store if I plan my meals for the week and stick to my list.

I always do this that way I always have what I need for recipes and am prepared for the week. It also helps to cut down on being tempted to grab fast food for dinner as opposed to running to the store for a few things because we are out of something I need. So it helps me be better and make healthier choices. Also, I go through our freezer or cupboards and see what I have on hand that needs to get used up and plan my meals accordingly.

I concur. So many times, I'll just give in and say I'll go to the grocery store tomorrow.
