At least they look like it to me! The knobs on mine are very clearly bamboo... The ones above look like wood grain to me!

Those are bamboo. The bamboo has been cut, glued, and shaped to look like that.

they do look like wood grain! I don't recall our peppercorn medley looking like that either. Mine has green in it!

That's bamboo. They're polished up for professional photos under professional lights. And the amount of green showing in the peppercorns is dependent on the randomness of the mix and how it poured into the grinder.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between bamboo and wooden knobs in the Just Noticed Grinders?

Bamboo knobs are made from a sustainable material that is lightweight and durable, while wooden knobs are typically crafted from various hardwoods, offering a classic look and feel. Both options are designed for functionality, but bamboo is often preferred for its eco-friendliness.

Are bamboo knobs more durable than wooden knobs?

Bamboo is known for its strength and resilience, making bamboo knobs quite durable. However, the durability of wooden knobs can vary depending on the type of wood used. Generally, both options are designed to withstand regular use, but bamboo may have an edge in terms of resistance to moisture and warping.

How do I clean and maintain the bamboo and wooden knobs?

Both bamboo and wooden knobs should be cleaned with a damp cloth and mild soap. It's important to avoid soaking them in water or using harsh chemicals, as this can damage the material. To maintain their appearance, you can occasionally apply food-safe mineral oil to wooden knobs to keep them moisturized and prevent cracking.

Do bamboo and wooden knobs have different price points?

Typically, bamboo knobs may be slightly less expensive than high-quality wooden knobs due to the cost of materials and manufacturing processes. However, prices can vary based on the specific design and brand, so it's best to check the current pricing for each option.

Which knob option is more eco-friendly?

Bamboo is considered more eco-friendly than traditional wood because it is a fast-growing grass that can be harvested sustainably without harming the environment. If sustainability is a priority for you, bamboo knobs would be the better choice.
