I Dropped the Ball... What Do I Do Now?

Click For Summary
A host scheduled a party for Monday but failed to send a guest list due to being away for several weeks. The host expressed disappointment upon receiving messages that the party was not happening. The organizer recognized a lack of diligence in follow-ups and is considering options to remedy the situation, such as rescheduling the party in February while still honoring the original date for promotional benefits. Suggestions include ensuring the host reaches a sales target of $500 to qualify for a special offer and potentially providing a small gift as an apology. The discussion also highlights the importance of double-checking guest lists and maintaining communication, especially when hosts have been unavailable.

Okay ladies... help needed!

I had a HO lead that scheduled a show for Monday. We set the date back in October. All was good... I sent the 3 host coaching letters and started my host coaching 3 weeks ago and kept leaving message after message.

She called me tonight and told me she e-mailed me her guest list before Christmas. I never got it! :( She was totally planning on the party Monday and is really really really bummed that no one has been invited. She's been away for the last 3.5 weeks (which I remembered after she told me she was going away and that's why we picked Monday). So she gets home this afternoon to all of my messages about the party on Monday that is not happening because I dropped the ball.

She used her work computer that has her guest list on it and won't be at work until Friday night and she REALLY wants the January extra free product value special.

I told her we could do it in Feb before the 12th, I would still date it as the original date so she would get the extra but I am feeling TERRIBLE about this. I should have been more diligent in checking in with her and made a note SOMEWHERE about her being away.

Should I offer her something as an I'm-sorry-I-totally-screwed-up gift?

Thoughts???

There is a chance she didn't email the list to you and is just covering her ass. I would just make sure she gets to at least $500 in sales to get her the extra free product. Maybe work with her guest list before the show and get February bookings so she can get the host specials again.

Oh bummer! That sucks! I agree about getting to $500. Hopefully that won't be a problem. If you have some extra products sitting around, maybe bring something extra for her. It's possible to still try to do it Monday if she gets on the phone after getting her guest list. Does she remember anyone she invited? She (maybe you could help?) could just start making lots of calls. Maybe with it being a Monday, I wouldn't think most people have lots of plans. If it's a bust, then maybe reschedule for Feb and use the original date? I'm so sorry!! And I suppose Kate's right...who knows what really happened! She can't log into her work email from home? If so, she could re-send the email with the guest list??

Bummer!! Yes, I'd offer something to her that you have extra. If not, I'd offer the host special to her (I wouldn't go over $30) for free or half price.

Thanks ladies! It never occurred to me that she was covering her butt... I don't think negatively of people like that. I was going to offer her the January for her show if we reschedule before Feb 12th and with the special which she needs to hit $500 regardless to get the extra free value so no worries there. When I moved I got rid of all of my excess inventory ... Kristi, I think I'll run with your idea! Thanks for your input!!! We'll see what happens!

good luck Colleen! I bought the host special for my host in January just so i could close it out in time for January triple points. :) It was worth it for me!!
