How do you tell the difference between the Professional and Generation II pans? I have a host who has a 12" skillet that's warped. If it's a Professional, it's still got a lifetime guarantee, right? Even if she doesn't have her original receipt?I just don't know how to tell what kind it is. I haven't seen enough of either line to know. She and hubby are buying a whole new set at 60% off, I just don't want them to have to use their 1/2 price item to buy a new skillet if they can get this one replaced for free.

If it's professional, I think it will say professional on the bottom of the pan.

That's true. The Professional also has visible rivets on the inside of the pot where the handle is attached, the Gen II does not.

Correct Ann! The G2 handle is screwed on... if they look at the end of the handle and see a screw, it's the G2... that and the rivets are the easiest way to tell the difference.

My guess is that if it's warped, it's the G2.

Other differences: The professional has straight sides and the gen II are more bowlish shaped. Professional Lids say Professional. Gen II just say Pampered Chef. Gen II lids have a silver trim around the handle, Professional just have the black. Gen II have a silver edge on the pan rim.

Frequently Asked Questions

How can I tell if my Pampered Chef pan is a Professional or Generation II model?

You can differentiate between the two by checking the bottom of the pan. Professional pans typically have a smooth, shiny surface with a logo stamped on the bottom, while Generation II pans often have a textured surface and may have a different logo design or additional markings indicating their generation.

What are the main differences in materials used for Professional and Generation II pans?

Professional pans are usually made from heavier gauge materials that provide better heat retention and distribution, while Generation II pans are designed with lighter materials that may heat up faster but can be less durable over time.

Are there differences in the warranty or guarantee for Professional vs. Generation II pans?

Yes, Professional pans often come with a longer warranty period compared to Generation II pans. It's important to check the specific warranty details provided with each product, as they can vary based on the model and purchase date.

Can I use metal utensils on both Professional and Generation II pans?

While it is generally recommended to avoid metal utensils on any non-stick surface to prevent scratching, Professional pans are typically more resistant to scratches due to their sturdier construction. However, it's still best to use silicone, wood, or plastic utensils for both types to prolong their lifespan.

Is there a noticeable difference in cooking performance between Professional and Generation II pans?

Yes, many users report that Professional pans provide superior heat distribution and retention, resulting in more even cooking. Generation II pans may heat up more quickly, but they can sometimes lead to hot spots, which may affect cooking performance.
