As you guys know... bookings... well... even if you get them... something happens. I don't know what to do. I hate this up and down business stuff. I need things to stay good... to keep a positive attitude. Let alone, my bills kind of require my income and this is it for me.

Any ideas, solutions, etc. Just please help with a good answer for me.

Thanks!

Stephanie

I found that over booking and then host coaching does wonders! Someone said in another thread to host coach to DEATH! (which made me laugh! :D)I've also had success with mailing the invitations myself..that way I know who's coming and who's not..and I know at least 4 weeks ahead of time whether the show is even going to happen! 4 weeks is plenty of time to rebook that day.Oh and catalog shows = my friends! :DThought I would add something more...
I get involved in MANY business expos, trade shows, bridal, county and craft fairs. I also coordinate a bunch when I need one and there isn't any set up.

Hi Stephanie,I completely understand your frustration with the unpredictability of bookings and the impact it has on your income. It can be extremely stressful and draining to constantly be on the rollercoaster of highs and lows in the business. One thing that has helped me is to diversify my income streams. I know it can be challenging to do in the entertainment industry, but perhaps you can explore other avenues within your skills and talents. For example, if you are a performer, you could also teach classes or offer private coaching sessions. If you are a writer, you could look into freelance opportunities or self-publishing your work. This way, you are not solely reliant on bookings for your income and it can help alleviate some of the financial pressure.Another thing to consider is creating a budget and cutting back on expenses where you can. This can help you have a better understanding of your financial situation and allow you to plan accordingly during slower periods.Lastly, it's important to remember that the ups and downs are a normal part of the business. Try to focus on the positive aspects and celebrate your successes, no matter how small they may seem. It's also helpful to surround yourself with a supportive community, whether it be friends, family, or fellow performers, who can offer encouragement and advice during challenging times.I hope these suggestions help and I wish you all the best in your career. Hang in there and keep pushing forward!
