What worries me about Obama's policies?

In summary, Cathy does not like the idea of national healthcare because she does not think it is a good thing for the people or the country. She also does not think that unions, social programs, etc. have been successful in adjusting to the new needs. She also thinks that the lack of leadership experience is a problem.

Yes my cousin is pregnant with her 2nd child.... never married, lives in a 2 bedroom apartment and pays about $140 a MONTH!!!! She does not work at all either and she is 100% American. It is sad how some Americans have lost their pride and morals, then it is upsetting that some people work so hard and struggle to make ends meet but some people here illegal can have free homes, medical services and so on too! Both ways it is wrong! I agree with you! :)

The Republican spokesman replied, "That's because McCain's supporters
are at work, they have a job and are not on welfare."

That is SOOO true! That's exactly what I said about the "early voter turnout" being so high...that they can all stand in line for hours because they don't have to go back to work! My dh did the absentee thing because he said he was worried about the lines and getting to work late!

OK~now Obama is claiming he didn't know his aunt was in the US illegally~

I don't know which is more sad~that he didn't know she lived in a slum and was here illegally OR the fact that he knew all of this and is now throwing his relatives under the bus.............

Did anybody see this? Obama: Spike energy costs to make people go 'green'

As if my electric bills aren't high enough at over $300/month and FPL is getting another rate hike. Now, if Obama gets elected he wants to add more to my electric bill? And he says he wants to help us?

Get out there everyone. If you have time to make phone calls today or tomorrow, your campaigns need you whether local or national. Call your county headquarters or an individual candidate's office. If you had a sign stolen, your local party headquarters may still have some. Give them a call to find out. I was just at my local GOP headquarters and they still had a few signs for different races and proposals available and someone was out delivering sign replacements. If you have half a day to be a poll watcher, you may call and sign up to do that, too. They also still need $$! Do what you can today and tomorrow.

And most importantly PRAY! I know God is able to hear prayers from both sides. "For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms", Ephesians 6:12. This has always been the case and is true no matter who wins.

So, I am tired today and have the semi-annual horrible sinus infection. Just heard another report about Bruce Springsteen opening for Barack Obama on the campaign trial...Couldn't help but think the theme song is: "Blinded by the Light"I had a guy at work today - no kids, VERY good salary say he is voting for Obama because socialism beats capitalism any day. What?! This is the same guy who got mad when we changed his lightbulbs at work to a better type for his health and energy savings because it still had good life in it and we got his 401k by a few cents by doing that.He also thinks it is Bush's fault his 401k just went down. ?!?!Unfortunately I believe Obama may win and we are in for a rough 4 years with Democrat control of everything, but I'm still voting tomorrow as soon as I can and HOPING the media is wrong and people aren't as blind by his promises as I see them to be. People don't be fooled, Barack is NOT going to save you money.

What really bothers me is the # of people who are voting for a promise of money savings which won't materialize.....and leaving their moral and ethical standards in the dust in order to do so. So Sad....and if Obama wins, there will come a day when we will sadly have to say "we told you so".

BUT I am also encouraged by the # of Dems and Independents I've talked to who have said they aren't voting for Obama. Remember - the media is going to slant it in favor of their chosen one....

:cry:What is so sad.. this is so true. Too bad people can't see through the false claims.. I have not yet heard "THE HOW" of how Obama is going to accomplish his feats. But I guess it won't matter after he's elected... he won't have to show anyone. Sad world we live in. Everyone will be so surprised when they all have to pay.. and pay big. No one understands Obama will lift the "lowered taxes" imposed by Bush.. so taxes will go up. They are about 1/2 compared to Clinton's taxes. Anyway.. this is Great to show what is going on, sadly......

It's All About The Ice Cream

As a third grade elementary school teacher I had the most eye-opening civics lesson during the run up to this presidential election was when my class showed an interest in the election. I decided to conduct an election for a class president during the next several civics classes. The kids would choose their nominees, and each would make a campaign speech. Afterwards, the entire class would vote.

To simplify the process, candidates were nominated by other class members. In the process, they discussed what kinds of characteristics the nominees should have. There were many nominations, and from those, J amie and Olivia were picked by the majority to run for the top spot.

The class had done a great job in their selections. Both candidates were good kids. I thought J amie might have an advantage because he got lots of parental support. I had never seen Olivia's mother. The day arrived when they were to make their speeches. J amie went first. He had specific ideas about how to make our class a better place. He ended by promising to do his very best. Every one applauded.

He sat down and Olivia came to the podium. Her speech was concise. She said, "If you will vote for me, I will give you ice cream." She sat down.

The class went wild. "Yes! Yes! We want ice cream! WE WANT ICE CREAM! WE WANT ICE CREAM!!!"

I thought surely she would say more, but she didn’t have to. A discussion followed. How did she plan to pay for the ice cream? She wasn't sure. Would her parents buy it or would the class pay for it. She didn't know. The class really didn't care. All they were thinking about was ice cream. J amie was forgotten. Olivia won by a land slide.

Every time Barack Obama opens his mouth he offers ice cream, and fifty percent of America reacts like nine year olds. They want ice cream. The other fifty percent know they're going to have to feed the cow.

I have a neti pot but don't use it faithfully. I need to use it more. It did cut down on my almost one last month. I get one every spring and fall. Maybe I'll use it tonight and in the morning and hope it helps. It isn't "full-blown" yet so maybe I can beat it still without antibiotics.

As for 8 p.m., I'll be at a FD meeting, but will pick another time later tonight. :)

I have to say, I am the BIGGEST Springsteen fan...he was in Cleveland yesterday for free concert (my neck of the woods) and my dh was joking w/ me about if I wanted to go to see him...I told him no way would I be around those supporters, not even for him, and I think a little less of him for it. I had always liked how he stayed out of politics for the most part (I knew he didn't approve of Reagan's using his Born in the USA song and I knew why) but he never raised a fuss about anything really...

I do feel that Obama is going to win, unfortunately, and then when things really start to go down we can all say "told you so"...little comfort when we are going to be suffering for something we didn't want in the first place.

Read this before you voteAmerica's future and the future of our children are at stake

November 3, 2008

The election of senators and representatives is very important. If the liberals win enough seats to kill a filibuster in the Senate, then there will be no stopping the damage they can do in just two years. Do we want that much power in the hands of liberals?

Activist justices who will be appointed to the Supreme Court for 20 to 40 years can make any law they wish, or override any law they wish. The liberals are already planning to remove every law prohibiting abortion, make homosexual marriage legal, and take away our religious and First Amendment freedoms.

A veto-proof Senate would guarantee that every bill the liberals want to pass, they can. In two short years, the liberals can undo every law that it has taken conservatives 40 years to accomplish.

When you vote for a senator, be sure that you keep this in mind! The election of one conservative senator could make the difference!

Is your life REALLY better now than it was when Bill Clinton was president? Really?

Do any of you guys actually listen to the facts? Barack Obama is not going to "nationaize" healthcare. If you have private insurance, you will keep it. But, if you are ever in a situation where you LOSE your insurance or you are self-employed....you will have the option of going onto the same healthcare plan as goverment employees. Which will be much cheaper than buying private insurance. Does that sound like nationalizing healthcare?

One of the reasons that I am afraid of doing PChef full-time is because I will have to pay $1500 a month for health insurance. under Obama's plan, I can elect to pay for the goverment insurance (which I could afford) and quit my job and start my FULL TIME PChef business!

  • #848
Yes I can honestly say that my family has done much better during the last 8 years. And Obama's healthcare plan will require everyone to have insurance. Just because I don't have a job that provides insurance does not mean I want to change to one that is required by the government. And, as a small business owner I cannot afford to provide healthcare for all of my employees. I would love it if I could, but it is not possible. If Obama is elected and all of his "wonderful" healthcare and tax incentives go into effect then I will lose my business because I cannot afford all that he is going to require me to do. So, when my business closes not only do my husband and I lose our jobs and the ability to support our children, 35 other people also lose their jobs and the ability to support their children.

  • #849
I own a small business but don’t offer insurance. How much will I have to
pay for each employee? And how does the Obama plan help my small business?
A. Obama’s plan will help small employers that are unable to offer health coverage to
their employees right now. The main reason small employers do not offer health coverage
to their employees is because it is simply too expensive. The Obama plan allows small employers to enter the National Health Insurance Exchange to purchase either a new
public plan or a private plan for their employees, who will be eligible for subsidies if they
need them. Very small businesses and start-ups will be exempted from the obligation to
pay into the system or provide meaningful coverage for their employees.
