Has anyone else had this happen?

I have had one break the same way. It was also just past the return period. I just ordered a new one. Until I got the new one, I used the broken one to cut the outside off the pineapple and just used a knife to cut the pineapple off the core.

If this one breaks I think I may just have to get one of those corkscrew type ones. I have seen metal ones.

These are soooo cool! I had a host who has one, she showed it to me. Very cool! But you can't get the chunks like you can with ours.

I've had two and have never had a problem. Even if you can't return it, make sure HO knows. There might be a defect that they need to look into.

Oh yeah I never though about that thanks i will call later tonight

I would definately let HO know...all of our products should last more than one year. Mention that you heard other consultants are having the same issue. I don't want to be selling it if this is a problem, and if it is HO needs to take care of it asap

The same thing happened to a friend of ours. But his was under warranty. But it did happen this yr

When using it, do you rock it left to right on the way down (switch back & forth from pushing down with the right hand, then the left hand, then the right hand, etc.) or just go straight down?

I definitely rock back and forth. But I don't choose mushy or soft pineapples either. Maybe that's it....

My first one died after a year in the manner described. I ordered a new one which died on the very first use!! I sent that one back for a replacement. Love my pineapple slicer.

Off topic some, but Just an fyi.....the trick to a perfect pineapple...... At the top, reach into the center of the leafy area and try to get the smallest, centermost leaf and pull. If it pops out easily (with a "snap" sound usually), then it is good. If it practically falls out, it is TOO ripe. Doesnt come out easily, too green. When i have done this method, i have always had perfect fruit. AND i watched a "Hawaii 5-0" insider video and local Hawaiian fruit markets showed the same tip!

Good to know. Thanks, Bobbi.
