Troubleshooting Cookie Dough Consistency: Seeking Advice

In summary, to fix sticky cookie dough, add flour gradually or chill it in the refrigerator. If your dough is too dry and crumbly, add a little liquid. To prevent spreading during baking, chill the dough or use more flour. If the dough is not holding its shape, chill it or add more flour. I don't have one of these yet so i need some help. I had a customer tell me that she is having problems getting the cookie dough the right consistency to use the press. Any suggestions? Thanks for the help!

1. How do I fix cookie dough that is too sticky?

To fix sticky cookie dough, try adding a small amount of flour at a time until the dough becomes less sticky. You can also try chilling the dough in the refrigerator for 30 minutes before working with it.

2. What should I do if my cookie dough is too dry and crumbly?

If your cookie dough is too dry and crumbly, try adding a little bit of liquid, such as milk or water, to the dough. Mix it in slowly until the dough becomes more moist and holds together better.

3. How can I prevent my cookie dough from spreading too much while baking?

To prevent your cookies from spreading too much while baking, make sure your dough is chilled before baking. You can also try using a higher ratio of flour to butter in your cookie dough recipe.

4. Why is my cookie dough not holding its shape when I try to cut it into shapes?

If your cookie dough is not holding its shape when you try to cut it, it may be too warm. Try chilling the dough for 20-30 minutes before trying to cut it again. You can also try adding more flour to the dough to make it sturdier.

5. Can I still use my cookie dough if it has been overmixed?

Overmixing cookie dough can result in tough and dense cookies. If you have overmixed your dough, try chilling it for 30 minutes before baking to allow the gluten to relax and the dough to firm up. You can also try adding a little bit of extra liquid to the dough to help soften it.
