Does anybody wash the apron before the bridal shower? I just can't remember if we're supposed to or not!

I just had a PC Bridal Shower last Friday night and I did wash and iron the apron before the shower.

thanks, I just put it in the wash now! I just couldn't decide!

I don't, but I have bad water which might leave a stain on it!!! I have a softner, but sometimes iron still gets in my wash!

I've done 3 and I didn't wash the apron. Should I have done that?

i was just thinking for the marker setting and not running - if you wash it first, plus mine was pretty wrinkled!

That is exactly why I washed/ironed it first. Took it out of the bag and was really wrinkled. It looked so nice freshly ironed (and I DON'T like to iron). Plus I thought with the markers I didn't want the bride to have any problems. Her future MIL was really pleased...the apron was a surprise to the bride.

I knew there was a thread on this - what kind of markers works best for the apron?

They are offered on supply order - I used them for my sister's shower, and they were perfect!

you have to use certain markers for the apron?

They are like laundry markers - the kind that work on fabric and don't wash off when you wash the fabric.

I would think I oould get them from a fabric store - correct?

Yep - you don't have to get them on supply order - any laundry marker will work! :)

Sharpies will work, too, since they're permanent. That's what my mom used to mark our socks and underwear when I was a kid (I have a twin sister, and she'd mark our clothes so that she could remember who got which). They may bleed a little on the fabric, but any marker would.

Definitely wash it first. When fabrics are manufactured they often have chemicals added to strengthen the fibers as they go through the manufacturing process. Removing the chemicals before writing on the apron will help the writing on the apron adhere better to the fibers and make it last longer. *Taking off my Textile Engineering hat now.* :)

Thanks everyone for your input.

Cindy

I'm so glad I saw this post. I have my first bridal shower in a few weeks and it didn't even occur to me to wash the apron! Now I will make sure to do that before I get there!:)

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the proper etiquette for washing the apron before a pre-bridal shower event?

It is generally considered good etiquette to wash the apron before the event to ensure it is clean and free of any dust or odors. This shows respect for the guests and the occasion.

Should I wash the apron with fabric softener?

While fabric softener can make the apron smell nice and feel softer, it is advisable to avoid using it if the apron has any special care instructions. Always check the label for specific washing guidelines.

Is it necessary to iron the apron after washing?

Ironing the apron is not strictly necessary, but it can enhance its appearance. If the apron looks wrinkled after washing, a quick iron can help present a polished look for the pre-bridal shower.

Can I use bleach to wash the apron?

Using bleach is not recommended unless the apron is white and specifically labeled as bleach-safe. For colored or patterned aprons, opt for a gentle detergent to avoid fading or damage.

What should I do if the apron has a stain?

If the apron has a stain, treat it with a stain remover before washing. Follow the instructions on the stain remover and ensure it is safe for the fabric of the apron to avoid any damage.
