What has the response been from your hosts about the Dec. host special. I have none that like it or have been even remotely interested in it... they ordered other things but I felt bad that neither of the items interesed them. They don't interest me either so I'm not surprised but I'm just wondering what y'all have seen.

I just had a host order it she seemed to really like it and she said the price wasnt bad at all.

Our job on these kind of host specials is to really sell it to them. The host special this month is great for quick entertaining. Wow your friends when you ask them to come over for a quick girls night in and have a beautiful spread of cheeses and dips. Something like that.

Is the US the same as Canada this month. The cheese board if you haven't seen it is very nice. I have two of them myself and use them all the time.:)

I think the prices are great.... maybe the hosts I have had weren't into entertaining... I didn't downplay the special at all.. guess they just weren't the hosts to use it. :)

I actually picked one up myself this month. It will be nice to use over the holidays. I thought I might get it too for having a cracker/cheese and dip night party in the early winter for a host. I like it! My best friend picked one up for herself too!!!

Cheers

It would be a great gift - maybe for them to take to a holiday party for the host. Sometimes, the host gets tons of wine...and what better item to give but something that goes with wine! Imagine putting together a gift set with the cheese board and squares with cheeses and mustards/other sauces and the cheese bistro set. What a beautiful basket that would make!

I use my cheese board and 1 square for a yummy snack time: Club crackers, Tastefully Simple strawberry rhubarb spread (in the square) and havarti cheese. Yum!!

But my hosts this month (and past hosts) weren't interested in it either. I think they are in a place financially where they just wanted their free stuff.

In general, I don't have a ton of hosts that take the host special. Personally I think they're crazy, but I know that there are times where it's too expensive. But I think the Dec special is nice, and it's quite affordable.

But then again, I do a lot of entertaining. I love the SA pieces... :)

Avon just came out with a wood cheese board set with the knives that store inside it. If your customers are like mine, alot are big Avon buyers. They also came out with a wood chip and dip server. I've had no one interested in this month's special but there has been interest in Jan and Feb.

I think in Michigan especially that is so true! Most of my hosts aren't spending alot of extra money - if it's something they truly need they use their 1/2 off and 60% off option, but the Dec. specials are more frivolous. I think they are nice pieces - and now I want to try the Strawberry Rhubarb spread and Havarti, but most of my hosts just don't want to spend their money on something like that right now...maybe when (if) the economy gets better.

Ours technically isn't wood - it's bamboo - which makes it stronger, less susceptible to warping, etc.....

Unfortunately, my customers don't tend to get into the details if they see something similar in Avon. I'm trying to break that Avon tendency as they pour alot of money into it every two weeks and this is the first time PC has entered into a particular office.

One of my hosts sells Avon & big surprise she didn't get the special! I have had 2 people interested in it-my mystery host winner got it & a past host got it. My 2 hosts for December didn't want it.

I've also read that bamboo is naturally bacteria-resistant, so it's less prone to infect your food with something nasty from crossover contamination.

Good for you though...as you can buy the special from their show and give it as a gift, use it yourself, or sell it as a cash and carry item.

I had 2 (1 host/1 past host) who were interested in the cheese board (but not for cheese...for sushi) and 1 who wasn't so gave it to a friend. 2 more (1 host, 1 past host) who were more like "well, I'm sure I can find something to do with it if that's what I get this month."

I only do that if a relative who hosted doesn't want the special. I don't want to go all over town to collect these!

I'm not terribly impressed with the special this month either....:(

That's funny because, although I like that HO puts pictures of our products in the catalog to show unexpected uses, EVERYONE looks at the one of the board with squares and says "I don't eat sushi, so I don't need a sushi board."

Once my Dec hosts got to actually see the cheese board and bistro set, they all wanted it (except for one...because she already had them!). That bistro set is awesome.....I happily threw out all my old cheese knives. :)

I think if we show the specials, most people do buy. Some months are better than others though.

Depends on the customers

And I have several shows in Jan and Feb specifically because I offered a Make your Own Sushi show. :)

A sushi party sounds like an awesome idea. I am doing my first show with me as hostess so I think I will get the special for me. Some things look better in person than a book. I'm hoping that letting hostesses 'play' with it will help bookings.

I get the same type of response on this side of the state Ann! Probably sushi is more popular where fresh fish/seafood is more readily available (at least at a price where most people can afford it!)

Technically, I am doing California rolls (all vege and egg, no seafood) for liability and price. I will ask my hostess to purchase some smoked seafood as an addition of she wants to, but it is not necessary.

I will be able to show off the cookware (Cook rice in it, make the sticky rice in it, then how easy it cleans up), the knife and cutting board, Bamboo board with SA squares, and SA, and it is a very hands on thing as each guest will roll her own.

I thought about that - but I think most people(around here anyway!), unless they are already familiar w/ sushi, don't know about California Rolls - and it would be an uphill battle trying to convince them to do Sushi Shows....I think it's a great idea though - I'm sure you will have lots of fun with it!

Robin- could you give the recipe and ingredient list for your california rolls. I think that would be an excellent theme show to offer! I don't do sushi and know a lot of people who don't do sushi, but to be able to give them an alternative would be great!!!! I just ordered this months special as I hosted my own show and can't wait to get it and show it off. I have had hosts order it this month, and one even ordered another at full price to give as a gift! I think it all depends on the host. New Years is a big day for eating cheese and crackers and so is the super bowl so really highlight those two days.
