Need a Larger Skillet? Want to Swap for the Family Size?

Click For Summary
The discussion revolves around the desire to exchange a 10" skillet for a Family Skillet, emphasizing the preference for the larger 12" skillet for cooking. Users highlight the utility of the 10" skillet, noting its convenience for home use and the ability to make skillet cakes, including a successful Pineapple Upside Down Cake. Recommendations include using oil or butter to ensure proper release of the cake and adjusting batter volume if incorporating additional ingredients like icing or pudding. There's a suggestion to keep the 10" skillet as a potential prize or for future use, while also considering purchasing the larger skillet at a discount for better functionality in baking.

I just picked up the 7 piece executive set. I really would like the Family Skillet instead of the 10". Is there anyone that has an unused family that would like to work out a deal for the 10" instead?

You'll probably need to buy it when you can get it at 50 or 60% off. I love my 12" skillet the best!!

I am afraid you are right. I don't need both. I really want to be able to do the skillet cakes etc. Thought I would see if I had any luck before I unwrapped mine and played around with the timing etc for the skillet cakes.

Get the 12" and save the 10" for a Mystery Host prize or something.

I have the 7 pc set and find that 10" really handy at home!Buy the 12" and write it off. I'd keep the 10" for sure!

You can sometimes do the cakes in the 10" skillet too. I've done the Pineapple Upside Down Cake with no trouble- because it was the only skillet I had at the time. I just used butter on the pan so it released easily.Try one of the skillet cakes and be sure to use oil, etc just like you would with any other cake pan. If you aren't sure about the batter/volume, leave out a cup of batter or two and see how it does. I didn't, and didn't have a problem. But if you are adding something like icing or pudding to the batter, then maybe leave out that much batter to compensate.....
