I just got this e-mail... are they still in the DS business? I thought for some reason they were on their way out but as I looked closer at the e-mail I realized that they still are!

Has anyone been to one of these at any other place listed?

I was to something similar, but not as extensive about a year ago. It was hosted by my LB lady and some other consultants - sort of an all-LB vendor fair. They had some of their food items prepared, and lots of displays, and one basket maker from their HO doing demos.

They've hit some rough patches lately - had to move a bunch of their manufacturing overseas to stay competitive, and then lost some customers because of it. The company that wove many of their textiles also had problems, and they had to find another supplier for those items.

Edited to add: I can't find the Med Chore Basket online currently, but GV admission is $20, and the basket looks like it would be more than $60. So the cost of the day is reasonable for what it includes.

So they're not yet a basket case?

I've been to an event that Longerberger did in my area. We got a free basket for coming and I won one of the door prizes - another basket. You had to be invited by a consultant and it was definitely a recruiting event. I was upfront and said that I love their product but was very happy doing PC. They were very nice and didn't try to pressure any of us. It was a lot of fun.

They had several "home office" and top consultants there to do the presentations. I'd go!

I had not heard that. Too bad! One of their big selling points was that everything - including the nails - were made in America. Sad, very sad.

I made one of the Med Chore Baskets when I visited Dresden. They even let you personalize it with special tacs. Too cool.

[Adds more names to list]Those who groan loudest at puns (or complain about them here) are just jealous they didn't think of it first, or if they did think of it, say/post it first.:p

Where am I and why am I in this handbasket???

I just sold my napkin LB basket at a garage sale for $5, liner, plastic protector and all. It was one of the first things that sold.

Not to worry, Heather! You want to place an order? I live in Ohio and have a WONDERFUL Longaberger consultant who lives near me. She can get that basket ordered for you, lickety split!!

Just let me know what you want, and I'll get the price, etc. to you!!;)

Those who groan loudest at pubs have had too much cheap beer.

I'm a Longaberger consultant, also. PC is where my heart is, so I do Longaberger more as a hobby.

Being overseas military, Longaberger consultants are VERY restricted. We can't hold home shows, catalog shows, or even accept orders from people here. I have to have a "designated person" in the states to submit orders for people here. (I can do orders for people in the states no problems.) Needless to say, I don't do very well with it. In fact, I haven't even qualified with them yet. I'm wondering if I ever will...

Of course, the large majority of my time and energy goes towards PC...
