Alright, well to begin with i was washing my moms dishes the other day and noticed that one of the executive pots lids were rusted well i just thought it was b/c she put it in the dishwasher...well i was washing my dishes this morning and noticed that one of my lids are rusted and guess what? I don't own a dishwasher....They are rusted in the same spot...there's a line on the rim of the lid and then it's like it look like the rust has come from that...i don't know if that is confusing or not....Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem...

Wow - this is the first I have heard of this. You should contact HO right away!! Let us know what you find out!

Plus lids ARE dishwasher safe, so even if she put them in the dishwasher, this shouldn't have happened.:(

Frequently Asked Questions

What causes rust on pots and pans?

Rust on pots and pans typically occurs due to exposure to moisture and air, especially if the cookware is made of cast iron or carbon steel. If these materials are not properly seasoned or maintained, they can develop rust spots. Additionally, using abrasive cleaners or not drying the cookware thoroughly after washing can contribute to rust formation.

How can I remove rust from my pots and pans?

To remove rust, you can use a mixture of baking soda and water to create a paste. Apply the paste to the rusted areas and scrub gently with a non-abrasive sponge. For tougher rust, you can use white vinegar or lemon juice, letting it sit for a few minutes before scrubbing. Rinse thoroughly and dry immediately to prevent further rusting.

Can I prevent rust from forming on my cookware?

Yes, you can prevent rust by keeping your cookware dry and well-seasoned. After washing, make sure to dry your pots and pans completely. For cast iron, regularly apply a thin layer of oil to maintain the seasoning. Avoid soaking your cookware in water and store it in a dry place to minimize moisture exposure.

Is it safe to use rusted cookware?

Using rusted cookware is not recommended, as rust can flake off into your food and may pose health risks. If the rust is minimal, it can be removed, and the cookware can be restored. However, if the rust is extensive, it may be best to replace the item to ensure food safety.

What should I do if my non-stick pans are rusting?

If your non-stick pans are rusting, it may indicate that the underlying material is exposed due to wear and tear. While you cannot remove rust from non-stick surfaces, you should stop using the pan and consider replacing it. To prolong the life of non-stick cookware, avoid using metal utensils and abrasive cleaners, and always hand wash instead of putting them in the dishwasher.
