What do I click on to make the DEGREE symbol instead of typing Degree ... I know... I should know this but hopefully someone out there can tell me??? :)

On Mac, it's option-K. On Windows, hold down alt and type 0149 (I think) on the number pad. (It's been a while since I was on a Windows machine, but I think that's the number to use.) There's also a little program in the Accessories (Start>programs>accessories) that has all those special characters. And if you're in Word, you can always go to Insert>Symbol and select it from there.

Start-->Accessories-->Character MapFind the character you want and double click on it. That will copy it to the clipboard and you can paste it here:It is 19° in Milwaukee this morning.Alt + 0176 should also give you the ° symbol, the character map will tell you the keystrokes for special characters you might want to use.°¦§¨©ª«¬¯¯®±²³

And if it's for a recipe on your website, use ° !

°[giggle] That's like reading the shoutbox. [/giggle]

“What?” I exclaimed, “I can't believe that bothers people!”lol

Ok, call me a geek...I've been out working on conveyors, came back and saw KG's post and thought to myself "oooh...binary" with a smile of delight...

Now, I will admit, being happy to see binary is geeky!!!!

...and I agree on the shoutbox...I ALWAYS forget I can't use quotes there!

Ann, I miss mac shortcuts! I keep wanting to try to do option R for the registration symbol. PC has too many numbers to remember!

So, what else ya got that we can destroy?

I love that joke! I just sent it to my dad. When I was in college my sig line was:
There are 10 types of people in the world; those that understand binary, and those that don't.I had a lot of people ask me about the other 8 types! And I found a whole new group of geeky friends.

at this moment... nothing but I remain calm in knowing that you'll make sure to do so when the time arrives! :)

Well, just a couple of ♪ ♫ because I don't want to £ this to death, but if you have a ¥ for foreign currency, there's a whole § of symbols and if you ©, you can paste them here. This doesn't make ¢ to a lot of people, probably ¼ or less know what these mean. Remember, π r not ², π are round.

Har har har. And, depending on the type, π are delicious.

Thank you! I have been wanting to know how to do this for nine years!! This is great!! Okay, now how do you type one and 3 fourths? 1-3/4 , 1&3/4. I know there is a way...I just gave up on computers when I was introduced to it in 1984...1010101010101010101AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! I guess it would have helped knowing how to type first...
