I have a show next Saturday and the hostess would like me to do the chicken in the DCB in the microwave. She wants to do the sandwich version of this show. I was wondering if I could get some opinions: do you think it would be better to do the whole chicken in 30 minutes and then carve it for the sandwhiches, or to do a few chicken breasts in the DCB for less time and cut them up for sandwiches instead.

If I do the chicken breasts, how long to they take in the DCB in the microwave?

The reason I am considering doing the breasts instead is because I would like to do a microwave cake in the heart dish to show it off as well. What do you think?

I usually do 3 large chicken breasts in the DCB in micro in about 7-10 minutes.

When I do the 30 minute chicken I put it in the microwave as soon as the first guest arrives, I ask her to be my witness that it is uncooked and we put it in for 30 minutes!! (as well as the host of course) - then as the guests arrive they smell it and it has to sit for a few minutes anyway - I have my host take it out of the microwave - you can be doing your demo at that point - when ready - pull out on of our knives and carve away - then you can do the heart cake as dessert!

i agree with doreen - do the whole chicken. it's very impressive. i did it at a show and the guests were amazed when i carved it and served it out

i cover mine with a paper towel---No clean up-----

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the DCB and how does it work for cooking chicken breasts?

The DCB, or Deep Covered Baker, is a versatile stoneware piece from Pampered Chef designed for microwave and oven cooking. It retains heat and moisture, allowing chicken breasts to cook evenly and stay juicy. Simply place the seasoned chicken breasts in the DCB, cover it, and cook in the microwave or oven according to the recipe instructions.

What are the pros of cooking chicken breasts in the DCB for sandwiches?

One of the main advantages is that the DCB cooks chicken breasts quickly while keeping them moist and tender. It also allows for easy cleanup, as it is dishwasher safe. Additionally, the stoneware enhances the flavor of the chicken, making it ideal for sandwiches. The DCB can also be used for other recipes, making it a versatile kitchen tool.

Are there any cons to using the DCB for cooking chicken breasts?

While the DCB is great for cooking, it does have some limitations. It may not produce the same crispy texture as grilling or baking on a rack. Additionally, the size of the DCB may limit the amount of chicken you can cook at one time, which could be a drawback for larger families or meal prep. Lastly, it requires careful handling as the stoneware can be heavy and hot.

How do I ensure my chicken breasts are cooked evenly in the DCB?

To ensure even cooking, it's important to use chicken breasts of similar size and thickness. You can pound them to an even thickness if needed. Additionally, seasoning the chicken and allowing it to marinate for a short period can enhance flavor and moisture. Following the recommended cooking times and checking the internal temperature with a meat thermometer (165°F) will also help achieve perfectly cooked chicken.

Can I use the DCB for other types of meat or dishes?

Yes, the DCB is versatile and can be used for various types of meat, including pork, beef, and fish. It is also great for casseroles, vegetables, and even desserts. The ability to cook multiple types of dishes makes the DCB a valuable addition to your kitchen, especially for those who enjoy meal prepping or cooking for gatherings.
