PamperedDor said:Danielle - I have never done carrots in the UM - but I do know that it took me a while to get used to the UM over the USG - I actually am a huge fan of the Forged Cutlery and use them for carrots - less clean up and works great - also love the crinkle cutter for carrots - shredding, hmm maybe then it would work for you -
PamperedDor said:Carolyn - when shredding the carrots do you use the larger hole grater?

To prepare carrots for cooking with the Universal Mixer, start by washing them thoroughly to remove any dirt. Peel the carrots if desired, and then cut them into uniform pieces, ideally around 1 to 2 inches long. This ensures even cooking and allows the mixer to process them effectively.
While you can cook whole carrots, it's recommended to cut them into smaller pieces for more even cooking. Whole carrots may take longer to cook and may not blend as smoothly in the mixer.
The Universal Mixer can be used for steaming, boiling, or even sautéing carrots. For steaming, add water to the mixer and place the carrots in the steaming basket. For boiling, simply add the carrots directly to the water in the mixer. For sautéing, use a small amount of oil and cook until tender.
The cooking time for carrots in the Universal Mixer will depend on the size of the pieces and the cooking method. Generally, cut carrots will take about 10-15 minutes to steam or boil until tender. Always check for doneness by piercing them with a fork.
To enhance the flavor of cooked carrots, consider adding herbs and spices such as thyme, rosemary, or garlic before cooking. You can also drizzle a little olive oil or add a splash of lemon juice after cooking for extra flavor. Additionally, a pinch of salt can help bring out the natural sweetness of the carrots.
