What do you show? What do you say about them?

I feel like I'm burning my people out or losing them...

I personally only bring what I use for the recipe. I try to stick with kit recipes and I talk about them as I use them.

I do that too. Sometimes things get left out because I'm not using them, but then inevitably someone will ask a question and then I can talk about those products too. I used to pack up my whole kitchen. Not anymore!!

That's actually a really good idea. I usually bring a whole display along with what I'm cooking with... I can probably cut my display down - or eliminate it all together... Great idea! =)

I usually bring what I am using for the recipe. If I can't include the coming months' host specials, then I may bring something there to show off, but that's about it.

I try to make my job look as easy as possible. Sometimes I will bring the specials but if its too much like work I won't bother. LOL

Get the guests to talk about what they use the products for. Do as little talking yourself as possible. They can sell it to each other much more than you can. Start with "who has this? what do you use it for?"

You're losing them if you're doing all of the talking.

I have cut down on what I bring, too. Just the ones that I use for the demo and the specials if I have them. I "lost" a couple of items at one show because I brought so much and people were all over the place while I was taking orders in another room. There are some dishonest people out there.

I bring what I"m using for the recipe, the specials and the following month's specials. Actually I try to use the following month's specials in the recipes so I kill two birds with one stone. I was taking the Cool N Serve b/c it was new but now that the fall line is out, I bring a few pieces of that or try to use it to serve what I'm cooking, like the bamboo bowls.

I bring the recipe tools, a piece of both types of cookware(at every show always) and the specials for the month I'm trying to book.

I made two signs out of cardstock. One says: Have it! Love it!! and the other says: Want it! Love it! I tape the to the edge of my table ot somewhere guests can easily see them I felt the same way about burning my guests out and read something here about this and throwing out marshmallows to guests that say either phrase and tell guests why they love it. I decided to use tickets. I either ask my host to hand out tickets or have my guests pass the roll around and take a ticket on the honor system. At the end of the show I draw a ticket and someone wins a prize. I thought about saying whoever had the most would win, but then I thought it wouldn't get the shy people involved as much. Plus, it seems like every show has at least one past consultant and a super collector that seem to dominate.

My recruiting seems to have gone up quite a bit. I also still do the ticket game, but instead of tickets I pass a small doorprize wrapped in a giftbag around and who ever asks a question about my job as a consultant gets the bag. At the end of 2-3 minutes whoever is holding the item gets the gift. I use my timer and don't tell them the exact time I put on the timer. I do let them know it's no more than 3 minutes, but if they ask a product or hosting question -or no one asks a question at all, I reserve to hit the special pause button until I answer the question or one is asked.

I also use the timer to keep my show from going to long. When I'm getting ready for my show at home I set it to go off exactly 30 minutes from when the show should have started. This way I'm guaranteed not to have a show longer than an hour. I aim to finish it in 45 minutes.
