I recently made a skillet cake and the middle stuck even though I used the appropriate amount of butter. Any suggestions?

which pan did you cook it in?

Did you leave it in there more than about 10 minutes? I did this one time and left it in there about 30 minutes before I turned it out for the "wow" moment. Well, it was a big "wow" when it stuck! It did not stick while cooking, it stuck b/c it was in the pan too long and the middle sweated to the pan. That's the only time I have had a problem with it.

Also, make sure the middle is done. Sometimes it takes a little longer for it to get as done of the edges.

That was my thought too Jennifer. If I am cooking it ahead I flip it out to cool then put it back in to flip for the guests.

Thank you for the suggestions. I was cooking it in the Executive skillet. I'll make sure it doesn't sit longer than 10 minutes. It tasted done in the middle so I guess I can only assume it was.

I take a scraper and losen the edges, then flip it out on to a platter. Never had a problem. ;)

Frequently Asked Questions

What should I do if my Sticky Skillet Cake is sticking to the pan?

If your Sticky Skillet Cake is sticking to the pan, ensure that you have properly greased the skillet before pouring in the batter. Use a non-stick cooking spray or butter to coat the skillet evenly. Additionally, allow the cake to cool for a few minutes after baking before attempting to remove it, as this can help it release more easily.

Why is my Sticky Skillet Cake not rising properly?

If your Sticky Skillet Cake is not rising, check to ensure that your baking powder is fresh and not expired. Also, make sure you are measuring your ingredients accurately, particularly the flour and sugar. Overmixing the batter can also lead to a dense cake, so mix just until combined.

How can I fix a Sticky Skillet Cake that is too dry?

If your Sticky Skillet Cake turns out too dry, you can try adding a bit of moisture back in. Consider serving it with a drizzle of syrup, whipped cream, or a scoop of ice cream. For future attempts, ensure you are not overbaking the cake and consider adding a little more liquid, such as milk or oil, to the batter.

What can I do if my Sticky Skillet Cake is too sweet?

If your Sticky Skillet Cake is too sweet, you can balance the sweetness by serving it with a tart fruit compote or a dollop of unsweetened whipped cream. For future recipes, consider reducing the amount of sugar slightly or adding a pinch of salt to enhance the flavors without making it overly sweet.

How do I know when my Sticky Skillet Cake is done baking?

Your Sticky Skillet Cake is done baking when a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs. Additionally, the edges of the cake should start to pull away from the sides of the skillet. Keep an eye on the cake during the last few minutes of baking to avoid overcooking.
