Unless they are old enough to have a drivers license, you don't need ID for them.

Thanks Jennifer, I didn't think so, but thought that I should check as I was making my to do lists. Isn't it kind of scary that you don't. How do they know if they are my kids are not?????

You could always double check with your airline as to what they require. I'm sure they've even covered it on their website in the FAQ section. Or your local airport.

I am making a photo copy of their birth cert, it never hurts to be prepared!

i have flown with DS for almost 14 years and the only time i needed any sort of documentation was when we went on a cruise to the bahamas.
birth cert and maybe a recent pic wouldn't hurt just in case they wander off

have a blast and congrats on earning the trip!!

Frequently Asked Questions

What identification do minors need to travel to Disney by air?

Minors traveling by air do not typically need to carry identification if they are under the age of 18. However, airlines may have specific policies, so it’s advisable to check with your airline for their requirements. It’s also a good idea to carry a copy of the minor's birth certificate or a school ID for verification purposes.

Do parents need to provide identification for minors at the airport?

Yes, parents or guardians will need to provide their own identification, such as a driver's license or passport, when checking in and going through security. Additionally, they may need to show proof of guardianship if traveling without the other parent.

Are there any special requirements for traveling with a minor who has a different last name?

If a minor is traveling with an adult who has a different last name, it is recommended to carry documentation that proves the relationship, such as a birth certificate or legal guardianship papers. This can help avoid any questions or issues during the security screening process.

What should I do if my minor does not have a birth certificate?

If a minor does not have a birth certificate, you can provide other forms of identification, such as a school ID, health insurance card, or a passport if available. It’s best to check with your airline for their specific requirements regarding identification for minors.

Are there any additional considerations for international travel with minors?

Yes, when traveling internationally with minors, it is essential to have a valid passport for each child. Additionally, some countries may require a notarized letter of consent from the non-traveling parent if one parent is traveling alone with the child. Always check the entry requirements of the destination country before traveling.
