I save gas money and time by always thinking about where I'm heading to on errand day and I make it a round trip - literally round, make it a circle or oval... I try to do my errands all on the same day or two each week and I try never to have to backtrack. Even on non-errand days I ask myself "What is on the way to where I have to go today and what is on the way back?". Sometimes I even get to skip an errand day because I did all that as part of other trips out that week.

Using a GPS can help make each trip efficient too! No wasted turns.

LOL...not in my case! My GPS doesn't always take the smartest or shortest routes. I always make a point of looking up my routes on google maps first, and too often, I deviate from GPS because "she's" got me going very odd routes.

yeah some GPSs are goofy. I do think Google is the best though. I rarely doubt them.

I do this too! Google Maps is awesome because then you can play around with each destination to make a big loop. Especially great around Christmas or after a big sale when I do deliveries. I don't do them often but when i do, I like to do them all in one day.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is smart trip planning and how can it save me time and gas?

Smart trip planning involves organizing your errands in a way that minimizes travel time and distance. By grouping errands that are geographically close together and planning your route efficiently, you can reduce the amount of gas you use and the time spent on the road.

How can I effectively plan my errands for the week?

To effectively plan your errands, start by making a list of all the tasks you need to accomplish. Then, categorize them by location and prioritize them based on urgency. Use mapping tools or apps to visualize your route and ensure you’re taking the most efficient path.

What tools or apps can help with trip planning?

There are several apps available that can help with trip planning, such as Google Maps, Waze, and Roadtrippers. These tools allow you to input multiple stops, optimize your route, and even provide real-time traffic updates to help you avoid delays.

How can I combine errands to make my trip more efficient?

You can combine errands by grouping tasks that are in close proximity to each other. For example, if you need to go grocery shopping and pick up a package from the post office, plan to do them in one trip rather than separate outings. This not only saves time but also reduces fuel consumption.

Are there any tips for remembering all my errands on a busy day?

To remember all your errands, consider using a checklist or a note-taking app on your phone. You can also set reminders for specific tasks or use a planner to keep track of your schedule. Additionally, reviewing your list the night before can help you mentally prepare for the day ahead.
