Interesting question at my show tonight - "How do I get the bump off my stone? It's like a zit and everytime I scrape up my food, I hit the zit. But, it never goes away."

So my question, can one "sand" a stone in any way to get rid of this imperfection? She doesn't have a receipt and didn't purchase it from me. I know it's part of the stone so I'm worried anything too forceful would break the stone. I told her I would see what I could find out and get back with her.

I'd email the test kitchen with this one.

Yep, that'd be my advice, too.

Frequently Asked Questions

What causes bumps to form on Pampered Chef stones?

Bumps on Pampered Chef stones can occur due to a variety of reasons, including improper seasoning, temperature shock, or the accumulation of food residue over time. These bumps can affect the cooking surface and may require attention to restore the stone's performance.

How can I remove bumps from my Pampered Chef stones?

To remove bumps, you can gently sand the surface of the stone with fine-grit sandpaper. Be sure to clean the stone thoroughly afterward to remove any dust or debris. Alternatively, you can try soaking the stone in warm, soapy water to help loosen any buildup before scrubbing.

Is it safe to use a metal scraper on Pampered Chef stones?

It is generally not recommended to use metal scrapers on Pampered Chef stones, as they can scratch the surface and cause further damage. Instead, opt for plastic or silicone tools that are designed to be gentle on stone surfaces.

Can I prevent bumps from forming on my stones in the future?

Yes, you can prevent bumps by properly seasoning your stones before use, avoiding sudden temperature changes, and cleaning them regularly with mild soap and water. Additionally, avoid using cooking sprays that can leave a residue.

When should I consider replacing my Pampered Chef stone?

If the bumps are extensive, affecting the cooking performance, or if the stone has developed cracks or significant wear, it may be time to consider replacing it. Regular maintenance can extend the life of your stones, but they do have a lifespan that varies with usage.
