Can someone please direct me to the place where we were told (1) how to pick a great pineapple from the marketplace and then (2) how to demo cutting a fresh pineapple. Thanks!

(It took me 5 seconds to find it...I can't believe I remembered where it was!! ):)

The greener the better on picking it. If they are yellow they are too ripe or getting ripe. I learned this from experience. The first one I bought was green and WONDERFUL. The second one was yellow b/c that was all the had and I had to throw half of it away.

If you cannot pull up that Consultant News let me know and I will post instructions on cutting. It is EASY! I was intimidated the first time, now I do them all the time.

Thank you ladies SO much! The party went very well. I did the pineapple demo and we used fresh pineapple on our skewers. DELICIOUS! I don't know that I can ever go back to the canned stuff. The pineapples I bought were about half green, but luckily they were still extremely sweet and juicy. I think it was impressive enough. ;)

Thanks again!

I love fresh pineapple. Ya know when you're picking one out you can pull the center leaves; if they come out easily it's a sign of ripeness. Also, smell it, if it smells like pineapple that's a good sign it's ripe.

Forgot to say when looking for good pineapple look for the one's that are golden, then use the other tricks.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I choose a ripe pineapple?

To choose a ripe pineapple, look for one that has a sweet aroma at the base, a firm but slightly soft feel when gently squeezed, and vibrant green leaves. The skin should be golden-yellow, indicating ripeness, but avoid pineapples with dark spots or excessive browning.

What is the best way to cut a pineapple?

The best way to cut a pineapple is to first slice off the top and bottom to create a stable base. Then, stand the pineapple upright and carefully slice off the skin in downward strokes, following the curve of the fruit. After removing the skin, cut the pineapple into quarters, remove the core, and slice it into your desired shapes.

Can I eat the core of the pineapple?

Yes, you can eat the core of the pineapple, but it is tougher and less sweet than the flesh. Some people prefer to discard it, while others choose to blend it into smoothies or use it in cooking for added fiber and nutrients.

How should I store cut pineapple?

Cut pineapple should be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator. It can last for about 3 to 5 days. To maintain freshness, keep it away from other fruits that produce ethylene gas, which can cause it to spoil faster.

What are some creative ways to use pineapple in recipes?

Pineapple can be used in a variety of recipes, such as fruit salads, smoothies, salsas, and grilled dishes. It can also be added to desserts like pineapple upside-down cake or used as a topping for pizza. Additionally, it pairs well with savory dishes, enhancing flavors in stir-fries and marinades.
