Block it out, or you'll say, "Well there really isn't any reason I couldn't do a show then..." I just did this with my calendar for Sept/Oct, and highlighted the days I want to do shows. It does work! Make exceptions rare, and for specific reasons, like out-of-town shows. I think it goes back to how women say "sorry" for everything, even when it's not their fault. Don't apologize for taking that time for you and your family!
