My Newsletter Opt-Outs: Strange Occurrence?

Click For Summary
SUMMARY

The discussion centers on the phenomenon of increased opt-outs from newsletters sent via a website compared to those sent as plain text emails. The user notes that HTML emails may lead recipients to believe the communication is from a corporate entity rather than a personal consultant. Additionally, emails sent from the website do not originate from the user's email address, potentially causing confusion among recipients. This discrepancy in email origin and format contributes to higher opt-out rates.

I was wondering if anyone had this happen to them too. I send a monthly newsletter written in my e-mail in text only and don't get many opt-outs. But when I send any announcements out through my web site I always get opt-outs even from past hosts. What is the deal with that? Just seems strange to me.

Maybe they don't recognize it's coming from you? One, if you usually send text only, seeing a fancy HTML email may make your customers think that the email is from Home Office, and thus something they don't want. Two, if I understand right, the emails from the website don't come through from your email address. So although your name may be at the bottom, the customer may quickly reply to opt-out because they don't realize it's from you.

hmm...I always have an e-mail sent to me too. It shows my name with Your Pampered Chef Consultant after it in the from area. This is how my own e-mails from my e-mail provider is set up too. True it's not sent from my e-mail it is sent from PC. Just seems strange.
