Frequently Asked Questions

What are indirect signatures for FedEx Standard Overnight deliveries?

Indirect signatures allow FedEx to deliver packages without obtaining a direct signature from the recipient. Instead, the package can be left with a neighbor, building manager, or another person at the delivery location who is authorized to receive it on behalf of the recipient.

How does the indirect signature process work?

When a package is shipped with an indirect signature option, FedEx will attempt to deliver the package to the recipient's address. If the recipient is not available, the driver may leave the package with someone else at the location or leave it in a secure area, as long as they believe it is safe to do so.

What are the benefits of choosing indirect signatures?

Choosing indirect signatures can provide more flexibility for recipients who may not be home during delivery times. It reduces the likelihood of missed deliveries and can expedite the receipt of packages, especially for time-sensitive items.

Are there any limitations to using indirect signatures?

Yes, there are some limitations. Indirect signatures may not be available for certain types of packages, such as those containing high-value items or sensitive materials. Additionally, the recipient should ensure that someone trustworthy is available to accept the package on their behalf.

How can I request an indirect signature for my FedEx delivery?

You can request an indirect signature when you create your shipment label through FedEx's online shipping tools. Look for the signature options during the shipping process and select "Indirect Signature Required" to ensure your package is handled accordingly.
