Can Purchases at a Fundraiser Be Tax Deductible?

I am going to host my own HWC fund raiser so I am starting to talk it up at different places. Today was the grocery store, as I was telling a friend a lady next to me asked; Since this is a fund raiser for cancer, can she claim her purchases on her taxes as a charitable contribution. She kind of laughed when she said it but I thought that was interesting and really don't know the answer.

No. She is getting products for her payment. The Pampered Chef is making the donation for the purchase of the products. If the price was raised to provide a donation from each person it would be deductable but not in this case.

I believe if she adds to her order (like round-up) she can deduct that portion.
