I See That Our Friend Is Pointing Out Online Violations...anyway,

I'm not changing anything. I have things set to Friends and until they come out with something that CLEARLY identifies what I'm doing as "illegal" I'm going with the "better to ask forgiveness than permission" attitude. They should have NO way of seeing it since none of them are my Friends. I know I'm not the only one that feels this way.

I see that our friend is pointing out online violations...

Anyway, I put up a link to a YouTube video, which I think its a gray area. I see several others of you put the customized press release in a Note on your page, which very clearly identifies you as a consultant.

I am not calling anyone out here, but I am worried. I don't want you to be reported. No one has mentioned it on CS yet, but you know folks there do report people.

Any thoughts?

(I'm not trying to start anything, but I don't want to see my friends get in trouble.)

Can people who are not our friends se our fb notes and status posts that we make on our own fb page - not when we comment on someone elses? Mine is set to friends only so I was under the impressions that only people who I've friended can see it. And everyone I've allowed know that I'm a consultant.

I realy hope HO relaxes on this - it's crazy that we can't be a part of these things. I've turned down other networking opportunitues b/c I would be listed on their site.

Yes... unless you tell the note or comment otherwise. In the *edit* section, it defaults to *friends and friends of friends* being able to see everything. You can change it so that only your personal *friends* can see things.

Yeah, I've wondered about those press releases. I may take mine down. But the Youtube videos I guess don't specifically say we're consultants, but obviously implies it. I don't know - I'm so confused!! My director (a SED) even commented on my Youtube video posting on FB and specifically mentioned how great it is that our company offers these opportunities...blah blah blah. WHO knows!!

Good point, though, Deb! And technically, unless someone from the HO is our "friend" on FB, they can't see it to confirm anything, even if someone else reports us.

I believe that is what it is set to - I defaulted everything to friends...hmm, not sure about the friends of friends thing.

But Lacy on CS got a violation notice for a MySpace posting that went to her friends only. So who knows....

I have one sales manager as my friend and I even asked her about her putting Pampered Chef as her employer. She replied that PC is her employer and that I am self-employed. She said that the rules about that don't apply to her. She has not commented on anything I have put up... I am careful. I'm set to just friends too.

did ya'll see that they made 'enhancements' on fb? argh!!!!! I'm lost again!!!!

Yeah, there is a high ranking CSer that likes to find and point out web violations. I had forgotten about that penchat of her's befor I accepted her as a friend. I'm not going to stress out about it. If I post something that she reports me for I will just fix it and go on.

Yeah I got an email today saying that my "group" is illegal.

I don't even know what group she's talking about! I'm part of a PC Recipes group, but I didn't make it and I also haven't mentioned anything about being a consultant on it.

It wasn't someone on DCS right?? I assumed someone from CS.....:bugeye:

I agree with you guys 100%. It really stinks to not promote my biz on FB. I didn't put the press release up and did see some that had but I'm not out to report anyone. In fact, I don't think you should be reported. The thing that I don't get is you would think that PC wants us to promote our biz since they make more money that way. Come on PC!!!

I've gotten e-mails from other consultants telling me what I have done is against policy (on FB and other places). My feeling on this is that there should be a little less *policing* and a little more *working* on their part. And ironically, it seems to come from people who complain about their businesses (or lack there of).... hmmmm... maybe a connection?

  • #18
I took out my contact info on that press release that I put in my FB note. Who knows if that makes it within the rules or what. Who knows. And I just realized I do have someone from the HO as my friend who has hosted shows for me and does a HWC FR every year. She's pretty high up there but I have a feeling isn't aware of all this mumbo jumbo. :)

NO Kidding! This person that contacted me claims to be pretty high up but I've never heard of her.....I wonder why??

I was wondering about the press release when I did it b/c it does have a link to my PWS in it. But I agree, as much as we don't like it, rules are rules. I am amazed though at the number of people who have the links that are on my friends list - they are ADs and SDs and they earn TPC every year in multiple categories and earn the level 4 trip - several of them are on first name basis with Doris, Jean and Marla too.....you think they'd know the rules? Some of them (one in particular) promote themselves daily on fb too....can ya'll see that on my wall?

It is frusterating. I can understand not taking out paid advertising on the web, but there has got to be some relaxing of the rules for social networking sites and professional association sites. I can live with no links to the pws - but saying that we are consultants and listing and email address or phone number has got to be allowed soon....I hope!

I really really feel like HO is working on this and that this will be the biggie announcement at conference this summer! It has GOT TO BE!!!! Afterall we are in the year 2009 and it's a digital virtual world we live in.....I am planning to buy one of those little pc's to take with me on my China trip....I better get tons of email from all of you telling me what's happening at NC! I am so bummed to miss it (kinda puts a little bit of a downer on going to China :( )

I've wondered about my Blackberry and being able to use it in Paris. How do you know if you get international coverage or not? Call the provider? Mine worked on the cruise last year, so I wonder if I have international coverage?

You know what my husband and I discovered? Skype!! It is like a video conference on your computer. If you have a webcam you can see each other if you don't have webcam you can still talk to each other. The best part is if you are calling someone else who is using Skype it is FREE! If they don't have Skype and say you are calling their cell phone or something it is like $0.10 a minute. So sometimes he would call the house phone to tell me to get on the computer. I believe it was just www.skype.com You have to download the application, but then it's FREE. It is totally cool. You can play games against each other and stuff.

Oh and Becky I thought you were going to be working?! LOL!! :p

  • #28
We use Skype a lot. Since my mom lives in China - that's how we talk and DH travels international so we talk on skype when he's away. Love it!

Cruise ships have their own "towers" for cell coverage. You should call your provider about international coverage.

I went to London last year intending to check my email religiously...until I realized the hotel charged something like $35 a day for access. That forced me to forego it...and it made the trip so much better.

They do and if you're on the ship, even in port, it will automatically pick up the ship's tower signal.

I read a story in Feb about the guy with the $28k bill using his AT&T wireless card to watch football on his laptop on the ship in port... he thought he was fine but his wireless picked up the ship's tower and not the local, so he was charged international rates. Crazy!!!!!

And it's a super easy call to your provider to get the coverage. :)

This was posted by someone today on CS:

Now tell me this - there is a DIRECTOR in my cluster with links on her facebook as well as periodic status updates that just "happen" to mention the company - and today a "thank you to Pampered Chef for pampering her so well in Mexico". I have reported this twice to HO within the past month. I dont dare bring this up with her personally. I could go to HER Director, but they may take it wrong, that I'm tattling.....

I know that this girl knows that this is a violation - which is one reason she has NOT invited me to be her friend on f/b.

I totally get reporting blatent violators of the policy but facebook is different since only friends can see what you're putting out there. I don't know if this is the person you were talking about Sandra but I do think she's a bit over the top.

I hope things change soon.

Feeling old again. Just don't have time for fb. Maybe I don't get it or understand it.

Now...where's my glasses? Seen my cane? Man, my bowels haven't moved for years now! Huh? What did you say? Speak up, I can't hear you! What's your name again?:D

  • #36
I just don't get it! If you are bold enough to report someone you should have the ta-tas to personally speak with them first to give them a chance to defend themselves or correct it. If they get ugly then report them!! And frankly...why do you care so much?!! (I am speaking in general - not to you Beth)

That one lady with her recipe page that linked to her PWS and made a link Linda posted on CS send everyone to porn...now she is someone I would feel at a disadvantage against. She is tech savvy enough to give herself a huge web advantage, but most people I think there is no worry.

Oh my gosh. And she did this on purpose just to be funny?? Weird. And yuck.

  • #41
I believe she did it on purpose thinking she was being funny. You know, "I'm going to show those nosy busy-body women". Her responses were really over the top. She was upset that they were discussing her on CS and upset that people reported her without emailing her first (I don't blame her there). I think some of the CS became a little too vested in that lady which only egged her on more.

OK, I couldn't resist. I went on CS, after a couple months of not even logging in, and replied to her. I told her that her Director just needs to adjust her Facebook settings to reflect "Friends Only" so no one else sees that stuff. Then I suggested she suggest it. It'll be interesting to see what controversy that just riled up!!OK, my work for the day is done....I have caused some trouble somewhere. :) Off to bed!!

This whole facebook thing gets me. Tonight my DH was on and he said look at this. One of my consultants friends posted my consultants web site as a link. So I quickly started an email to my consultant to warn her of that being a big NO NO!!
( would of called her , but it is 10 PM).
So I then log into FB and find she ( my consultant) did the same thing and said how fun her Pampered Chef show was tonight and asked if anyone would like to book a show too.
I don't know if either of them have their profile private. But if they don't that isn't going to be good. I have a feeling we are being watched on FB more now than ever.

And that survey sent up red flags all over the place with the questions they asked.

Hopefully your consultant will understand and more importantly, hopefully HO will get the hint and let us talk on facebook and other such sites.

  • #47
Yeah my consultant emailed me back and removed it. She said she didn't know. I went and looked at her friends and she posted a comment to ask her to take it off cause it was against HO policy and she didn't know.
I think if you are networking with friends it shouldn't matter. We will see what happens after this survery you guys have been talking about.

  • #48
Geez that just really sucks!! It really needs to be changed!

  • #49
The thing with "only friends can see" is that not everyone is so careful with who their friends are. If someone was intentionally trying to promote their business there, they would accept everyone and request add-ons to every FB suggestion. Before too long, they would have a huge network of people to advertise to. It would be an unfair advantage. At least until everyone can do it and then I guess those who want to, will. :O) I do not report people. I would be careful though about the 'better to ask forgiveness' thinking because according to the policies, the punishment is pretty harsh. Permanent disabling of the online ordering capabilities for repeat violations even if the infractions were fixed! Yikes! Again, just don't want to see anyone get in trouble.

1. What is considered an online violation when promoting Pampered Chef?

An online violation when promoting Pampered Chef refers to any activities or behaviors that go against the company's policies and guidelines for online marketing and advertising. This can include using false claims or misleading information, spamming, or using unauthorized materials.

2. Is it allowed to share a link to a YouTube video as a Pampered Chef consultant?

It depends on the content of the video. If the video contains accurate and truthful information about Pampered Chef products and services, then it is allowed. However, if the video violates any of the company's policies or uses unauthorized materials, then it is not allowed.

3. Can I post a customized press release on my personal page as a Pampered Chef consultant?

Yes, you can post a customized press release on your personal page as long as it clearly identifies you as a Pampered Chef consultant and follows the company's policies and guidelines for online marketing and advertising.

4. Should I be worried about being reported for potential online violations?

It is always important to follow the company's policies and guidelines when promoting Pampered Chef online to avoid any potential violations. While there is no guarantee that someone will not report you, as long as you are following the rules, there should be no cause for concern.

5. What should I do if I see a friend potentially violating Pampered Chef's online policies?

If you see a friend potentially violating Pampered Chef's online policies, it is best to bring it to their attention privately and remind them of the company's guidelines. This can help prevent any potential issues and protect both your friend and the company's reputation.
