I have a host who is a "meat & potatoes gal" and one of her guests would like to see the gravy separator in action. One thought I had was to roast a couple of chickens here at home in the roasting pan, then take the pan with the chickens to her home and make the gravy there.

Any other suggestions? Or any other recipes? I made a beef roast in the DCB, but didn't get enough drippings to make gravy. Maybe I should have added water. I want to try again. Thanks for any tips/recipe ideas!

use oil and water it will give her the same effector you can do a roast with a can of Campbells french onion soup and a can of cheddar cheese soup whisk and pour over & bake but it has very little grease and no need to add anything else for delicious gravy

I think your idea of roasting the chickens at home and then making the gravy at your host's house is a great solution. It allows for the guest to see the gravy separator in action and also saves time and effort for you. If you want to try making gravy with the beef roast in the DCB again, I suggest adding some beef broth or stock to the pan while the roast is cooking. This will help create more drippings and give you a flavorful base for your gravy. You can also add a bit of flour or cornstarch to thicken the gravy if needed. Another recipe idea could be to make a pot roast in the slow cooker. This will create a lot of flavorful drippings that can easily be turned into gravy. Just add some beef broth, flour or cornstarch, and your desired seasonings to the drippings and let it simmer until thickened. I hope these tips and ideas help. Good luck with your next gravy-making adventure!

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a gravy separator and how does it work?

A gravy separator is a kitchen tool designed to separate fat from liquids, such as gravy or broth. It typically features a spout at the bottom, allowing you to pour out the liquid while leaving the fat behind. To use it, you pour the liquid into the separator, let it sit for a few minutes, and then pour from the spout, which ensures that the fat remains in the container.

How do I prepare the roasted chicken for demonstration?

For the demonstration, start by roasting a chicken until it reaches the desired doneness. Once cooked, allow it to rest for about 15-20 minutes to let the juices settle. Then, place the chicken on a cutting board and use a carving knife to slice it, ensuring you capture any drippings that fall into the pan. These drippings will be used in the gravy separator demonstration.

What steps should I follow to demonstrate the gravy separator?

Begin by showing the audience the roasted chicken and the pan drippings. Next, pour the drippings into the gravy separator, ensuring to include all the flavorful bits. Allow the mixture to sit for a few minutes so the fat rises to the top. Then, demonstrate how to pour the gravy from the spout, keeping the fat in the separator. Highlight the difference in texture and flavor between the separated gravy and the original drippings.

What tips can I share to enhance the demonstration?

Engage your audience by explaining the benefits of using a gravy separator, such as healthier meals and better flavor. Encourage questions throughout the demonstration and share personal tips, like adding herbs or spices to the gravy for extra flavor. You can also suggest using the separated fat for cooking or baking, emphasizing its versatility.

How can I encourage attendees to purchase the gravy separator?

To encourage purchases, highlight the convenience and ease of use of the gravy separator during your demonstration. Share testimonials or personal experiences of how it has improved your cooking. Offer a special promotion or discount for attendees who purchase during the event, and provide a clear call to action, inviting them to ask questions or place orders after the demonstration.
