I posted a little while ago asking how far you travel for a show and I got some interesting answers.

Got me to wondering how far you have or would travel for a booth/fair/etc.

I have traveled about 90 minutes, but the booth was a real dud and I'm actually glad that the 2 bookings I got flaked out on me. They were both beyond the booth location for me. It's important to consider that you'll get bookings from a booth that may be farther from your house than the event is. And if you're not willing to drive that far for a show, don't do the booth.

I am blooming here where I am planted, so I will only do booths that are in the area, within the parimeters I want to work. If I get bookings beyond my parimeters, I have arranged to pass them on to Ruthie or Janice, or my stepdaughter, on my team, depending on the location.

Frequently Asked Questions

How far do you typically travel for a booth event?

Typically, I travel within a 50 to 100-mile radius for booth events. This distance allows me to reach a good number of potential customers while keeping travel time manageable.

What factors influence how far you would travel for a booth?

Several factors influence my travel distance, including the size and reputation of the event, the expected foot traffic, and the potential for sales. If an event is well-promoted and has a history of success, I may be willing to travel further.

Do you consider the cost of travel when deciding how far to go?

Yes, I always consider the cost of travel, including gas, lodging, and meals, when deciding how far to go for a booth. It's essential to ensure that the potential sales will outweigh these costs.

Have you ever traveled out of state for a booth? If so, how far?

Yes, I have traveled out of state for larger events or conventions. In those cases, I might travel anywhere from 200 to 500 miles, especially if the event is known to attract a large audience and offers significant networking opportunities.

What tips do you have for someone considering traveling for a booth?

When considering traveling for a booth, research the event thoroughly, assess the potential return on investment, and plan your travel logistics in advance. Additionally, consider teaming up with other consultants to share costs and maximize your presence at the event.
