Just looking for ideas.

I know about the one liners but cant seem to remember them at the shows. I come home and get mad at myself b/c I feel like I'm normally a pretty funny person but when it comes to the shows, I feel that my personality doesnt come out. I'm in my 4th month and have done about 3-4 shows a month, some of them catalog shows. Is it that I dont have enough experience yet?

Just relax! If you are having fun, your guests will too. I think you are the right track. You, your hosts and guests will get more out of your business if you can have fun and goof around a little. Once you are more comfortable you will remember all those things you wanted to say!

Some of the funniest things that I say at my shows just come to me and guests can tell when you practiced a joke and when it naturally just came to you. Just relax and have fun and the jokes will start flowing!

WOW!!!!:D 3-4 shows a month!!!!:D I'm going down to Staten Island, cuz Da Bronx is pretty dry:rolleyes:

Ginger:cool:

Ginger-I can't imagine anywhere in NY being dry!:)
As far as being funny, I think you just have to go with the flow. If I make a mistake or a mess, I kinda make fun of myself. If I know the host well, sometimes I take my 7yr old with me. She loves to help, & the ladies usually get a kick out of her--you know how kids speak their minds, never know what they'll say!
I think if you try too hard to be funny, then things don't turn out as funny as you plan. Just relax, have fun, and the rest will come!:D

I try to relax but I dont think i'm there yet. I'm fine at shows of people I know, the ones I dont know I feel a little funny just being myself. I guess b/c I cuss alot and I cant do that at a show (obviously!) I feel I'm not myself. I'd usually be loud and say this thing is frggin Awesome! and my friends would laugh.. but at a show i try to be so practical. I'm sure in time it'll come.
Thanks for the help. Anyone else have any input its always appreciated.

Ginger didnt know you are from da Bronx! lol

One of the best ways I've found is for those 'fun' times when you embarass yourself, then you can make fun of yourself.

One thing that I do want to add to though about being funny. There is a man in the Columbus area here whose show average is over $1000. He is SO funny to listen to, I'll bet his shows are such a hoot, I'm sure they are.
But he points out that you don't have to be funny like him, but you must have energy.
Let's your eyes brighten up, smile, stand strong, take command. You'll do great (sounds really like you already are).
And the cool thing about being East coast is you can SO say just about anything and get away with it. :D :D :D

That is SO funny! Definately poking fun at your sig other can bring on laughs! And if you have little kids too-they're always doing something that can make people smile....I always talk about the food chopper being my daughter's fav product, only when I started she was 3, & called it the chomper;)

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I incorporate humor into my Pampered Chef shows?

Incorporating humor into your shows can be as simple as sharing funny anecdotes related to cooking or kitchen mishaps. You can also use playful banter with your guests, make light-hearted jokes about common cooking challenges, or even share humorous stories about your own experiences with Pampered Chef products. Just ensure that your humor is relatable and appropriate for your audience.

What types of jokes work best during a cooking show?

Light-hearted, family-friendly jokes about cooking, food, or kitchen appliances tend to work best. Consider using puns or playful wordplay related to the products you’re demonstrating. For example, you might say, "Why did the tomato turn red? Because it saw the salad dressing!" This keeps the atmosphere fun and engaging without crossing any lines.

How can I use props or products to create humor?

Props can be a great way to inject humor into your show. Use kitchen tools in unexpected ways or exaggerate their uses for comedic effect. For example, you might pretend to struggle with a simple task to emphasize how easy a Pampered Chef product makes it. This not only entertains but also highlights the product's effectiveness.

Should I practice my comedic timing?

Absolutely! Practicing your comedic timing is crucial for delivering jokes effectively. Rehearse your material to find the right moments to insert humor, ensuring it flows naturally with your presentation. Pay attention to your audience's reactions and adjust your timing accordingly to keep them engaged and laughing.

How do I handle jokes that don’t land well?

If a joke doesn’t land as expected, don’t panic! Acknowledge it with a smile and move on gracefully. You can even make a light-hearted comment about it, like, "Well, that one might need some cooking time!" This shows your audience that you’re comfortable and can laugh at yourself, which can actually enhance their enjoyment of the show.
