In summary, as a new Director, it can be overwhelming to balance the demands of the holiday season with your new role. During the slower months of January, set realistic goals, stay involved with your team, plan for the upcoming year, and take advantage of training and resources. December and January can be challenging months for new directors or directors with weak clusters. Unless you are doing most of the sales the 4k can seem daunting. Also I have found January 1st is a common time for consultants to throw in the towel if they have been struggling because it's the end of the year.
Can we list 10 or more tips for our new directors for this time of year?

Quick things that roll off the top of my head:

1. Hold a booking blitz with your team and offer something more special than usual for participating.
2. Have your team make contact with you January host now so they can keep their party in mind when making out Christmas card lists and mingling with family and friends.
3. I have some extra goodies that I may use to have a "contest" for January hosts. One year I did this. I took 3 very pricey items that I had extras of and advertized to my January hosts (and prospective shows) that when a show reaches $500 (set it at what ever you like). The host will be in a special drawing. The top party will get first pick (I had 3 items), second highest, second pick, etc. I ended up only giving away 2 of the three items but one show was a $1000 party.
Brain has just gone on sleep mode!!!:bugeye:

I send Holiday postcards to past hosts and preferred customers, hit it hard with e-mails about my website (just got $200 on it today alone), and call to just wish "happy holidays" and "I really want you know that I appreciate your support of my business" -- hey, a little schmoozing isn't a bad thing.....
