Thank you soooo much. Now If I can just get littlest DD to FINALLY take her afternoon nap so I can actually cook dinner...

The recipe in the All The Best cookbook calls for 1 3/4 c. cheese - w/ 1 1/2 c. inside of the ring and the other 1/4 c. sprinkled on top with egg white brushed on top first, then the cheese. Holy cow, does that make any sense at all???? See, more cheese again!!! :D

Well, it did turn out pretty well. I used 1 lb of beef with 1 cup of cheese, and managed to get most of the mixture in the ring. I think my triangles were a little close to together, but it wasn't too bad for a first try. DH and the kids liked it too, so that is good!

Andrea- I'm with you on the cheese. 1 cup was plenty, even with 1 lb of beef. I was joking with my sister recently that the seasoning of choice in the US is cheese (we're Brit's, I live in Ohio).
 
I make the braid for everything because it's easier to get the mixture inside, IMO. I don't even look at a recipe for the taco one anymore. I just make up my own taco meet. Put some grated cheese in it and put the mixture on the braid. I forgot to grate the cheese the other night so we grated it over the braid when it was served.
