There is a strong interest in acquiring the older version of the Ultimate Slice and Grate (USG) among users, with several individuals expressing a preference for it over the newer model. Many users are actively seeking to buy or sell slightly used or new-in-box versions of the older USG. Tips for effectively using the new model have been shared, particularly regarding how to slice tomatoes properly to avoid issues during demonstrations. Users recommend cutting the bottom of the tomato for stability and emphasize that the holder is meant for support, not pressure. Additionally, there are resources available, such as instructional videos, that can help users become more comfortable with the new model. Enthusiastic exchanges about successful acquisitions of the older version highlight the ongoing demand for it.

I just cleaned out my cabinets and found my old USG. It's been used only a handful of times...anyone in search of one?

This is from my e-mail:

I am looking for the Ultimate Slice and Grate we used to have in the catalog for sale. If anyone has one they would like to sell to me, even if it is slightly used I would be interested in buying it. I like the older one better than the new one and want one for my daughter and sister if more than one person have them for sale. They can contact me personally at: XXXXXXXXXXXX

I took their e-mail out Carolyn - I'll PM it to you.

Janet, I have one too. So if you like you can send me her info too. (I actually have one NIB and one slightly used).

OK - will do!

I also have one slightly used, but with all new blades (had those replaced on an adjustment).

I also have one if anybody is interested that is barely used and in excellent condition.

Do you think it would be a good idea to take that old one to a show now? I just can't seem to get used to the new one. I loved the way the old one cut my tomatoes nice and thin. I tried showing that feature at a show with the UM and it was a mess. My excuse was that the tomato was too ripe.

I am interested in an older one too....if any of you have one left. PM me or [email protected]

You might get by with that by saying you don't have the new one yet but...

Just keep using the UM at home and soon you'll love it. As I'm sure you've heard, tomatoes have to be firm and the skin not too tough. It also helps to slice off a piece to give it a flat bottom. One other thing, don't push on the tomato. I tell people the holder is a HOLDER not a pusher.

I take the tomato and slice off the bottom with the tomato knife. If it feels right I use the UM with the V-blade. If not I slice it with the tomato knife. I use the UM with a lot of other things and I'd rather not have a problem with it at a show.

Great Tips!! I will do that, cutting it before putting it in there might solve the problem!! I hope I can get to that point (where I love it) so that I can offer it with confidence. Thank you.

I am not sure if everyone knows this but there is a few videos that show you how to use the new UM. My new consultant was having problems with hers and we met up in a mall to work on it together (it was half way between our homes). She brought the UM, some potatoes, onion and cucumber, knife, and cutting board. We worked together and she left loving it.

Follow the other hints and check out those videos. I bet that will help.
