You might get by with that by saying you don't have the new one yet but...Addie4TLC said:Do you think it would be a good idea to take that old one to a show now? I just can't seem to get used to the new one. I loved the way the old one cut my tomatoes nice and thin. I tried showing that feature at a show with the UM and it was a mess. My excuse was that the tomato was too ripe.

Just keep using the UM at home and soon you'll love it. As I'm sure you've heard, tomatoes have to be firm and the skin not too tough. It also helps to slice off a piece to give it a flat bottom. One other thing, don't push on the tomato. I tell people the holder is a HOLDER not a pusher.
I take the tomato and slice off the bottom with the tomato knife. If it feels right I use the UM with the V-blade. If not I slice it with the tomato knife. I use the UM with a lot of other things and I'd rather not have a problem with it at a show.
