That way the ice cream sandwich maker stays clean and I can make a bunch and freeze them right away.
That's a great idea! And it would be pretty easy to pull the saran wrap back if you wanted to roll the ice cream edges in sprinkles or nuts too!dianevill said:In addition to Jennie's response, before I even put the cookies in, I take a large piece of Saran Wrap, lay it over the opening, put the cookie/ice cream/cookie in, and then wrap the Saran Wrap around the top cookie and then pop it out and into the freezer. I hope that makes sense!

Did you all see the sandwiches on the Guest Special flyer for June? Anyone know how they made the flower shaped one?
That's possible... but I think I've seen that cookie at the store?!kitchencop said:Looks like maybe they used the "flower" bread tube.....
An ice cream sandwich maker is a kitchen gadget designed to create homemade ice cream sandwiches easily. It typically consists of two molds where you can place cookie dough or cake layers, and a compartment for adding ice cream. You bake or freeze the cookie layers, fill them with your favorite ice cream, and then press them together to form a delicious sandwich.
Soft and chewy cookies are ideal for making ice cream sandwiches, as they provide a nice contrast to the cold ice cream. Popular choices include chocolate chip, sugar cookies, and snickerdoodles. It's best to avoid overly crunchy cookies, as they may break when biting into the sandwich.
Yes, you can use store-bought cookies with an ice cream sandwich maker. Just ensure that the cookies are soft enough to hold the ice cream without breaking. This can save time and still yield delicious results!
Beyond traditional ice cream, you can get creative with fillings! Consider using gelato, frozen yogurt, or even whipped cream. You can also add toppings like sprinkles, crushed cookies, or fruit slices between the layers for added flavor and texture.
To clean your ice cream sandwich maker, follow the manufacturer's instructions. Typically, you can wipe down the surfaces with a damp cloth and mild soap. Make sure to avoid submerging any electrical components in water. Regular maintenance includes checking for any wear and tear and ensuring that all parts are functioning properly before each use.
