Ok, so I got solicited by my girlfriend into an online recipe exchange chain letter :yuck: I was supposed to get back 36 recipes, I got 4. Two of which, well, :o, I prob will never try.

Have you guys seen this or done this?

this one is making the rounds in the midwest too. the only replies i got were people saying that they did not have time. if you have time to say you don't have time, then why not just stick in a recipe?
Oh well....

ewe ....

Susan, May I ask you???? Do you make falafel?

If so, would you be willing to share your recipe with me? I used to work in NYC and my friend Nicole introduced me to it, and I soooo loved it! We got it from a cart vendor who served it in a pita with grilled eggplant, tomato and cucumber (I think) with a white sauce on top.... I live in southern NJ now and cant even get anyone who knows what Im taking about, never mind have a recipe for it....

Laura,
Of course home made is better.. But you can buy a box at a health food store like Wholefoods. It is really good and has a shelf live too for convienence. Check out your nearest healthfood store.

I get at least one of these a month. There are months when I get several. I respond in this manner:Thanks so much for thinking of me. As I'm sure you can imagine, I get lots of requests to join these exchanges. I'd love to participate. But, since I can't do every one, I've made it a policy to not participate in any. I wish you all the best and hope you get loads of great recipes.

I have never received any recipes when I have acutally participated in these, so now I just hit "delete"!!

I get these ALL THE TIME. The 1st 2 I replied too, sent my recipe and never got 1 recipe. I now just nicely tell the person who sent it to me that I have tried this in the past and it hasn' worked for me, so I am not going to participate.
We get the book and sticker ones for the kids too, I always do my part and we get nothing.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an online recipe exchange chain?

An online recipe exchange chain is a network where individuals share recipes with one another, often with the expectation of receiving recipes in return. Participants typically share their favorite dishes, cooking tips, and sometimes even kitchen hacks, creating a community centered around cooking and food.

How does participating in a recipe exchange chain work?

When you join a recipe exchange chain, you usually start by submitting a recipe of your own. In return, you receive recipes from other participants. The process may involve sharing your recipe with a specific number of people, who then do the same, creating a chain of recipe sharing. Some chains may have specific themes or guidelines, while others are more open-ended.

What are the benefits of joining a recipe exchange chain?

Joining a recipe exchange chain can provide several benefits, including access to a diverse range of recipes, the opportunity to connect with fellow cooking enthusiasts, and the chance to discover new cooking techniques and ingredients. It can also inspire creativity in the kitchen and help you expand your culinary repertoire.

Are there any drawbacks to participating in a recipe exchange chain?

Yes, there can be drawbacks. Some participants may not follow through with sharing their recipes, leading to disappointment. Additionally, the quality of recipes can vary widely, and some may not be well-tested. It's also possible to encounter spam or irrelevant content if the chain is not well-moderated.

What was your personal experience with online recipe exchange chains?

My experience with online recipe exchange chains was mixed. While I found some fantastic recipes and connected with passionate cooks, I also encountered a few unreliable participants. Overall, it was a fun way to explore new dishes, but I learned to be selective about which chains I joined and to manage my expectations regarding the quality and reliability of the recipes shared.
