I believe I heard it once and I can't remember, does anyone know what gauge our cookware is? I was asked once and had the number but I can't remeber know. I think it's in the 20's and the lower the better?

Any clarification would be nice...

I checked on the Product information pages and the use and care instructions and it didn't list anything. If some one doesn't get back to us with it, I'd say contact Home Office.

Found it!I know I had seen the information about the different gauges of cookware, too, and so I went looking for it. After what seemed like forever, I finally found it! In Consultants Corner go to Product Information and choose FAQ. Choose Consumer Applications and type in Keyword "cookware". It will give all the information you need about the Generation II cookware, but I assume it is the same for the Professional line, too.

BTW, here is the information on the cookware you were looking for:

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a cookware gauge?

A cookware gauge is a measurement tool that helps determine the thickness and quality of cookware materials. It can indicate how well a pot or pan will conduct heat and how durable it is over time.

Why is cookware gauge important?

The cookware gauge is important because it affects cooking performance. Thicker cookware tends to distribute heat more evenly, reducing the risk of hot spots and ensuring better cooking results. It also impacts the durability and longevity of the cookware.

How do I measure the gauge of my cookware?

You can measure the gauge of your cookware using a caliper or a ruler to determine the thickness of the material. Most cookware gauges are measured in millimeters or inches, and a higher gauge number typically indicates a thinner material.

What gauge is best for different types of cookware?

For frying pans and sauté pans, a gauge of 3mm to 5mm is ideal for even heat distribution. For stockpots and Dutch ovens, a thicker gauge of 5mm to 7mm is recommended for better heat retention. Always consider the cooking method and frequency of use when selecting the gauge.

Does Pampered Chef provide information on cookware gauge?
